Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on December 26, 2024December 26, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 We’re racing once again at Eagle Farm on Saturday, very warm week track will be Good although we are expecting a storm in the evening, hopefully well after dark! Have to tip the Gollan stable runner BOOM SHOT in the opener. Just busting to win a race he’s had the 4 starts this prep placing twice & finishing no further back than fifth, luck hasn’t always been on his side, hopefully that changes today. TORABELLA draws well & rolls forward, will find this easier than last start, NO NAME FRANK should appreciate 1300m. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 10 – 11 Suggested Bet: BOOM SHOT TO WIN. RACE 2 Keen on the chances of GRAFTERBURNERS who steps up from a weaker race last start however the manner in which he got the job done suggests he’s well up to tackling stronger opposition this afternoon. He sat back last before quickly rounding up his rivals & racing clear to the line, additional 100m shouldn’t concern. FORMULA ROSSA is trending in the right direction, BLITZBURG had no luck at Wyong, wasn’t far off the ruling Magic Millions favourite Memo who ran an unlucky second. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet: GRAFTERBURNERS EACH-WAY. RACE 3 Tough race to map as no runner in the field has been out to the 2100m trip as yet, tactics all important early on & we may get to see a few surprise ones. SUN WORSHIPPER has been strong to the line his past two starts the latest being 1800m, he is one who looks certain to appreciate getting out over further. BEAU DAZZLER returned to top form winning the Grand Prix last start, he’s got form in stronger races last prep, big threat. MAZIS is an interesting runner who has been well supported both runs, unknown out to this trip, wouldn’t be leaving out though. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet: SUN WORSHIPPER EACH-WAY. RACE 4 With my original top two selections withdrawn confidence levels are not high for this race. NAVAL SEAL maps to land a good run in the race, he’d been in good form before failing the latest, perhaps the going didn’t suit, perhaps he’s now looking for this trip once again, I’ll lean his way. IVERSON was better last start, a similar effort will have him in the finish once again. Include 11 & 12. Numbers: 14 – 10 – 11 – 12 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 5 Backing two runners in this race being METALART & BOHEMIAN LAD who are both busting to win a race. The former has been good at all 4 outings this prep, a couple of those have been without any luck & his effort on the heavy last start was good for a horse who was completely all at sea on it. BOHEMIAN LAD was a good thing beaten his two final runs last prep, trialled well leading into the latest when running home very well from the back, confident one of the pair will win. Expect improvement from BLUE SPINEL. Numbers: 4 – 19 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet: METALART & BOHEMIAN LAD TO WIN. RACE 6 Similar to the previous race I’m backing two horses here being CIGAR FLICK & SHALAA’S MOMENT. The former isn’t exactly a punters favourite however she’s more than capable & enjoys racing on this track, with room earlier in the straight last start she would have won. SHALAA’S MOMENT is a very consistent mare, I’m convinced her opening price is due to most feeling she will struggle at 1200m, check out her run in the 1200m Healy during the winter & then make up your own mind, she’s overs for mine. Poor gate for KIN however I did like the trial. Numbers: 9 – 6 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet: CIGAR FLICK & SHALAA’S MOMENT EACH-WAY. RACE 7 The Group 3 Vo Rogue is one tough race. There’s no doubt BUSUSTOW & CATOGGIO bring the stronger/classier form lines having raced well down south during the spring, both are off 8 & 6 week breaks respectively though. Market leads all important however I’ll lean to the former as he just might be the strongest late. ZOUBABY led throughout to win a sit/sprint affair at Randwick last start, her runs prior in Melbourne including a Listed second have her in the mix here. Good bunch of locals in the field, maybe last start winner SUPERALLOY the best of those, do like him stepping to 1300m. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 12 – 2 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 8 For the third time today I’m having trouble splitting two runners as my top selection, this time it’s CIFRADO & TRANSATLANTIC who are both last start winners. The former has come back in terrific order this prep & clearly comes through stronger races, the rise in distance is another plus. TRANSATLANTIC had excuses two back before an on paced winner here last Saturday in very good time, up on speed he’s going to take some running down. ROTHFIRE is so well placed in this race both weight & barrier wise, should he back up ok from last week he can certainly turn back the clock. Numbers: 2 – 12 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet: CIFRADO & TRANSATLANTIC TO WIN. RACE 9 BELVEDERE BOYS has plenty of upside & might be the way to go here coming off a last start Rosehill 2000m win. He’s always shown good ability however the step up in distance looks to be the making of him. With no weight on his back he’s going to prove very hard to hold out. NIKAU SPUR & KERCHAK are racing in peak form, the former has been going really well in stronger company down south, both should figure in the finish. QUEEN AIR is sharply up in trip, wouldn’t be overlooking her though as she’s has really enjoyed the change in environment. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 4 – 12 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 10 Good race to wind up the day. I’ll lean to SALTAIRE who needs to be close enough to strike in the straight as she doesn’t have a long sprint. The inside draw & senior jockey up work in her favour as does a drier deck. I’m a TECTONIC PLATE fan, she won’t be far away from her good draw & should strip fitter for the first up run, that third at Doomben two back was an absolute belter of a run. No knock STEADY READY apart from the gate whilst ECONMICS although big odds did impress winning first up for Stuart Kendrick. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics.
