Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on January 4, 2024January 4, 2024 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 RUMOUR HAS IT (1) led throughout to win her first two starts back from a spell before being caught in the breeze at her last start. She will lead here and is clearly the one to beat. BEYOND THE SEA (2) has had a short break and will fight out the finish if she reproduces her form around Wonderful To Fly. NULLABOR NAVAJO (3) resumed with a dominant win against easier company and looks set for a good campaign. THREE RUMOURS (7) caught the eye with a fast-finishing 2nd to Steno in the Christmas Belles but is drawn poorly tonight. Tips: 1 2 3 7 Suggested Bet: RUMOUR HAS IT (1) to win. Race 2 DOC HOLLIDAY (4) ran a nice 2nd to Vultan Tin before disappointing here last week. He drops significantly in class for this assignment and looks the one to beat. ACUTO (2) ran on well at big odds when 4th to Crowd Control at his last start and should be prominent throughout from this barrier. STATE OF HEAVEN (3) has finished towards the rear at his last five starts but he has been battling bad draws and can improve tonight. AMERICAN BULLITT (10) will enjoy a soft run on the pegs and will be charging home if he sees daylight at the right time. Tips: 4 2 3 10 Suggested Bet: DOC HOLLIDAY (4) to win. Race 3 LAMANDIER (1) was placed in four consecutive starts before leading throughout at his last start before having a short break. He should lead from his perfect draw and will be hard to catch if at his top. TAKING THE MIKI (5) has been racing well and should be right in the finish if she reproduces her last start 2nd in good time. STAMFORD (10) is drawn to get the run of the race and shouldn’t be far away. IMA FIVESTAR GENERAL (9) has the best form in the event including a 2nd to Lavra Joe in 1.52.9 two start back but the wide draw makes it tough. Tips: 1 5 10 9 Suggested Bet: TAKING THE MIKI (5) each way. Race 4 MINSTREL (3) led throughout to defeat LAVRA JOE (4) in 1.54.7 over this distance at his last start and he will be hard to beat if he can find the front again. LAVRA JOE (4) has won two of his three starts since resuming and is fitter than when he was defeated by MINSTREL (3) two starts back. ELDAYTONA (1) has options at the start and won’t be far away if he does sit behind one of the favoured pair. GOODFELLAZ (5) has plenty of ability and could get a nice cart into the race. Tips: 3 4 1 5 Suggested Bet: MINSTREL (3) to win. Race 5 LUCCA (3) was unplaced in the three 4YO Classics but he drops significantly in class and appeals as the one to beat tonight. ALL IS WELL (6) was a in impressive all-the-way winner in quick time here last week and is also capable of unwinding a big finish. SUGAR APPLE (12) is racing consistently and looks capable of winning a race of this nature with the right run. FLYING RUMOUR (10) has won three of his five starts this time but is better suited from a front line draw. Tips: 3 6 12 10 Suggested Bet: LUCCA (3) to win. Race 6 ROCKNROLL ELLIOT (6) was a strong 2nd from the breeze at his last start and should produce a similar effort and fight out the finish again. SHOWPONY (2) impressed when working hard and winning at big odds at his last start and will be a major player if he reproduces that performance. FRANCO MECCA (4) led throughout from a similar draw at his last start and will give plenty of cheek if he finds the top again. HIGH PRICE (10) has generally been a disappointing conveyance but can still figure against this line-up. Tips: 6 2 4 10 Suggested Bet: ROCKNROLL ELLIOT (6) to win. Race 7 SOHO DOW JONES (1) was crossed from this barrier when 3rd to Tricky Miki in the Golden Nugget and looks the one to beat tonight. THOMSON BAY (2) has been unplaced in his last five starts but is drawn to be prominent throughout here and looks a big improver. RUPERT OF LINCOLN (3) wasn’t suited here last week but must be considered on his previous form. CORDERO (6) was a good 3rd to Arma Xfactor here last week in a stronger field but doesn’t look suited by the likely steady tempo. Tips: 1 2 3 6 Suggested Bet: SOHO DOW JONES (1) to win. Race 8 WATCHING OUR COIN (2) resumed with a strong 2nd when he started from a 20m handicap and is clearly the one to beat from the front line tonight. RAVEN BANNER (3) was a drifter in the market first-up but found the front from a 20m handicap when a comfortable winner and looks the obvious danger. FLEUR DE MAQUIS (1) is a reliable stand performer who is racing well and the rise in class is offset by the pole draw. ARDENS HORIZON (5) has been placed in 11 of his 14 stands and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 2 3 1 5 Suggested Bet: FLEUR DE MAQUIS (1) each way. Market Market
