Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on September 8, 2022 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 ZAZU (1) led when narrowly beaten by Hittheroadjack at his last start before a spell and has battled bad draws at his first two runs back. He looks the leader and should prove hard to catch. JETT STAR (8) has won 12 of his 20 career starts and resumed with a narrow all-the-way win at Pinjarra but isn’t as well drawn tonight. MARKHAM EYRE (5) drops in class on his last start 9th and must be considered on his previous efforts. RASCAL (12) ran on well to finish 2nd here in 1.53.9 and will be charging home again. Tips: 1 8 5 12 Suggested Bet: ZAZU (1) to win. Race 2 DOC HOLLIDAY (4) resumed from a spell with a fast-finishing 2nd to Mirragon and should strip fitter for that run. WITHOUTTHETUH (1) has been disappointing but his recent form has been sound and he is drawn to give a great sight. ARMA EINSTEIN (10) drops in class on his last start 3rd to Plutonium and will be dangerous if he sees daylight at the right time. FANCI A DANCE (12) is racing well without winning and must be considered but he looks likely to have a tough run from this draw. Tips: 4 1 10 12 Suggested Bet: ARMA EINSTEIN (10) each way. Race 3 AL GUERRERO (1) led but was run down by Plutonium here two starts back but is suited by the shorter trip tonight and looks the one to beat. JASPERVELLABEACH (5) has finished 2nd at his last two starts and must be considered now that he has returned to form. MIRRAGON (6) was an impressive first-up all-the-way winner here last week and should be right in the finish despite the wider draw tonight. EUPHORIA (8) continues to race well but will need a strong tempo or bit of luck from out here. Tips: 1 5 6 8 Suggested Bet: AL GUERRERO (1) to win. Race 4 ANGEL IN WHITE (1) was an impressive all-the-way winner from this draw three starts back and is clearly the one to beat here. AMERICAN ARMA (3) was suited by the solid tempo when beating a strong field two starts back and is a legitimate danger if the race is run to suit. PLATINUM SPARKLE (4) has battled bad draws at her last two starts but will settle closer to the lead tonight and can make her presence felt. BOORAA (5) was an impressive 1.56.6 Pinjarra winner at her last start but is drawn outside her main rivals here. Tips: 1 3 4 5 Suggested Bet: ANGEL IN WHITE (1) to win. Race 5 LAVRA JOE (4) contacted his sulky and over-raced here last week when finishing at the rear but is the one to beat on his previous outstanding form. HAMPTON BANNER (2) is a quick beginner who will lead here and is the obvious danger. MINSTREL (6) hasn’t been convincing in finishing midfield at his three runs back from a spell but is too good to overlook. VULTAN TIN (3) will enjoy a nice run in the moving line and is capable of causing an upset if there is a solid tempo. Tips: 4 2 6 3 Suggested Bet: LAVRA JOE (4) to win. Race 6 GOODFELLAZ (1) rises considerably in class for this assignment but his last start all-the-way win in 1.55.8 indicates that he will give a great sight if he can hold up at the start. SWINGBAND (5) was surprisingly beaten when a narrow 2nd at his last start but has the best record in this field and can bounce back. THE MIKI TAKER (4) worked too hard in the run at his last start but must be considered on his previous 2nds to SWINGBAND (5). LOUCID DREAMS (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and can be in the money at big odds. Tips: 1 5 4 10 Suggested Bet: GOODFELLAZ (1) to win. Race 7 WONDERFUL TO FLY (10) made it nine on end when she led throughout to easily win the Country Oaks. She has a tricky draw to overcome but is still likely to be too classy for her opposition. LITTLE DARLING (5) won her last two starts before a break and her recent trial form indicates that she will give the favourite something to catch if she can find the top in the early stages. TAKING THE MIKI (8) looks to be working back to her best form and can play a part. FREE WHEELING (2) led throughout here recently and can give some cheek. Tips: 10 5 8 2 Suggested Bet: WONDERFUL TO FLY (10) to win. Race 8 MASTER YOSSI (6) has been caught in the breeze at his last two starts but won his previous two starts and looks the one to beat tonight with a bit of racing luck. JOEY JAMES (1) caught the eye with a slashing 3rd to Tenzing Bromac in quick time in a mobile here last week and will be hard to catch if he can step to the front here. PONTEVIVO (3) isn’t the most reliable stand performer but he will be right in the finish if he steps cleanly. GEE SMITH (4) is a quick beginner who should lob in a handy position and he is racing well. Tips: 6 1 3 4 Suggested Bet: MASTER YOSSI (6) to win. Race 9 IM THE BLACK FLASH (3) has only had two starts but crosses the Tasman with a big reputation and he looks the one to beat. HES NEVER BEEN BETA (8) was an impressive first-up winner and looks the obvious danger to his stablemate. HEZ ALL THE RAGE (1) had his chance when 2nd to HES NEVER BEEN BETA (8) at his last start and won’t be far away from the pole. ROLLING FIRE (9) is drawn poorly but is capable of a big finish if there is a reasonable tempo throughout. Tips: 3 8 1 9 Suggested Bet: IM THE BLACK FLASH (3) to win. Race 10 PLUTONIUM (2) has resumed with four wins from his five starts including an impressive 1.55.8 win from the breeze here last week. He is versatile and will be hard to beat if he leads or sits behind the polemarker. ALWAYS FAST (1) led throughout here last week after three inglorious WA runs and appears to be at his best in front. HANDSANDWHEELS (3) is the class runner of the field but is yet to recapture anything like his best form after a long lay-off. THE IDEAL TOUCH (6) was an impressive first-up winner but the draw makes it tough. Tips: 2 1 3 6 Suggested Bet: PLUTONIUM (2) to win. Market Market
