The Scout: Women’s World Cup Matchday 8 Posted on July 27, 2023July 27, 2023 | Posted by The Scout Group E – United States v Netherlands The United States got off to a comfortable start to their title defence with a 3-0 win over Vietnam. The margin could’ve been greater as they dominated possession and the shot count. They should field the same starting line-up, meaning Alex Morgan will lead the line and Megan Rapinoe is an option off the bench. Stephanie van der Gragt’s early goal was enough for the Netherlands to see off Portugal. A win and clean sheet mean no need for change, and Jill Roord needs to have a big game in midfield. Van der Gragt, Sherida Spitse and Dominique Janssen will need to be solid in a back three to have any chance of getting a result. United States to win @ $1.65* Group E – Portugal v Vietnam Portugal put in a decent showing against the Netherlands given themselves a platform to build on. They will fancy their chances of beating Vietnam and Kika Nazareth could come into the team, supporting forwards Diana Silva and Jessica Silva. Vietnam have it all to do following a comprehensive loss in their first game. The Asian side didn’t register a shot on or off target against the United States so dramatic improvement is needed. Van Su Ngan Thi is pushing for a start as Nhu Huynh remains the focal point of the attack. Portugal to win @ $1.13* Group B – Australia v Nigeria Australia overcame Sam Kerr’s injury to beat Ireland 1-0, but they will again be without their superstar forward. Joining Kerr on the sidelines are Mary Fowler and Aivi Luik who both sustained concussions in training. With Kyah Simon still returning to full fitness, the door could open for Alex Chidiac to start in attack. A superb penalty save by Chiamaka Nnadozie gave Nigeria a deserved point against Canada. They won’t fear taking on the co-hosts but will do so without Deborah Abiodun who is suspended following her red card. Asisat Oshoala struggled to make an impact last time out but remains Nigeria’s most dangerous player. Draw @ $4.10* Multi USA Win Portugal v Vietnam – Total Goals Under 3.5 Australia v Nigeria – Draw @ $ 11.50* *Odds correct as at 8am, 27th July 2023. Market Market
