Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on November 22, 2022March 10, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TORONADO BULL was no match for Divine Flirt on debut when finishing a well beaten second. Tracked up three deep with cover, did a fair bit wrong but still showed sufficient ability to suggest that with race experience he would be able to go close at his second outing. Maps well from the draw and should run well again. NO PEER finished third behind Rumour Says and Deetea first-up last preparation. Loved her trial but just wary of the awkward gate she has to contend with. FOREVER CLASSIC looked home on Melbourne Cup Day before Madame Magic let rip with a big turn of foot. Going well. SECOND LANDING worked hard to find the top last start. Numbers: 7 – 10 – 11 – 8 Suggested Bet – TORONADO BULL WIN RACE 2 GOLD KEEPER and REAR ADMIRAL both trialled like horses who would be winning first-up. Going to side up narrowly with REAR ADMIRAL who has shown ability at trials on numerous occasions. Most recently she tracked up Spirit Man, got around his heels and ran right through the line. Sean & Jake Casey are enjoying a great run at the minute and Jordan Turner would have to be the most underutilised jockey in the State. Only had 90 rides in the last 90 days, 10 winners at 10% Strike Rate and 10% POT. GOLD KEEPER is likely to get back regardless of where he’s drawn so it’s not the end of the world for him. Ran really well in 2 year old company when last in work. INVINCIBLE RUBY comes through the 3 year old features. Dangerous late. BLEECKER STREET gets a soft run. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – REAR ADMIRAL WIN RACE 3 AL QUEPONE is only a 1000m straight winner which is an obvious query, however, his recent runs around the bend in higher grade have all been very good. Third behind Laced Up Heels and Lexington City three starts ago and even 1.7L off Critical Altitude and Hammarmill read up well for this. Nicely placed. GALAXY CAT resumed without a trial in a C1 1000 when finishing third behind Lexington City and Sky Duke. Should come on fitness wise from that outing and outside of obvious leader Wuhan Warrior there doesn’t look to be much speed in this event. The way she jumped first-up she’ll hopefully get across to the breeze without burning too much petrol. WUHAN WARRIOR gets his chance in front. THE REPUBLICAN trialled well. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – AL QUEPONE WIN RACE 4 SAMARIA looks to have found a very suitable race. Likely to bounce straight on the front for Holly Watson and control the race. Last start went from a dominant maiden victory into a C3 and was brave in defeat behind My Dilemma who has since run well in a 0MWLY behind Karalee Rocks and Rebelzone. Back into a C1, straight to the top, hard to run down. SABINO has his first start in WA for Neville Parnham and won his most recent trial at Belmont Park in style. FRENCH MARTINI has a horror gate to overcome but the fact that Ted Martinovich took him straight from a maiden into a 60+ Graduation gives an indication on the expectations of his ability. SPORTS TALK ran well at all three last time in. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – SAMARIA WIN RACE 5 RESTFUL looks the one to beat in this moderate C1 1650m. She will go round short but she maps a treat, looks relatively progressive for this grade of race and since they’ve stepped her up in trip, she’s improved at each and every start. Doesn’t need to get as far back as she did last start when descending upon them and should go close to making it back to back wins. TELL NOTHIN’ comes back in grade and back in trip. Jason Whiting rode him to his one and only victory and he did finish fourth behind Buster Bash and General Grant in a 60+ 1800 last preparation. Don’t completely discount. SISU WARRIOR comes up sharply in distance. WISE COUNSEL ran well last start on speed. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – RESTFUL WIN RACE 6 MYSTICAL BABE looks to be building nicely towards a third win in her short career. In her initial preparation of racing she won a 2200m maiden fourth up into the campaign. Strikes this staying assignment fourth-up, has a senior rider back aboard and maps to settle in the first handful in running. Like the way she’s going and the fact they’ll march along behind Heaps Of Moolah. MR FAHRENHEIT drew a nightmare barrier last start and still ran particularly well. Should get a far more economical run in this. WEIGHTMAN has run two good races since arriving in WA. Stiff to run into a horse like Truly Inspired in a C1. SPECIAL PICTURE doesn’t win out of turn but is going well. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – MYSTICAL BABE WIN RACE 7 BLUE CARD has been building into the preparation and has been running into midfield positions from a long way back. Looks to land in a midfield position and join the three deep train that should start to build from the 800 and from there he looks an eachway chance in a wide open race. BIG SWOOP was huge last start. He was the only on-speed horse left standing at the top of the straight and had the audacity to come back at Crezee in the last 100. Ready to win. DECOY NOXIOUS should roll to the top for a noted front running apprentice. Went way too hard at York with 62kg and doesn’t seem to take the tight corners well. Forgive. GRACE DU ROI was able to run down Mystical Babe at Geraldton. Could look like strong form if she salutes in Race 6. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – BLUE CARD EACHWAY RACE 8 PENNY’S AFIELD gets one last chance with the shades going on. Michael Lane also calls on William Pike and he should be a very suitable hoop for a get back, run on type of mare like her. Put in a ripper first-up behind in form mare Real Danger and then was solid against the pattern behind Big Screen second-up. Was only moderate to the eye last start when grinding late into fifth. One more chance. ROCKIN’ RUPERT is going well without winning. Steps to 1400m and should land in a prominent position from the draw. VITALIZE won off 7 days in October and Chris Parnham rides her over Penny’s Afield and Phoneme. PHONEME has come back down in the ratings and finds a more suitable race than at Albany. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – PENNY’S AFIELD WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 6 3,4,7 1,2,3,4,5,6,9,12 2,3,5,6,7,8,12 Market Market
