Warren Huntly’s Wednesday Sandown Preview Posted on November 22, 2022March 10, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Plenty to learn here. MUGEN has impressed in a number of recent jumpouts and looks ready to go for his debut. ITALIAN VIKING has also jumped out well to resume after running well at both his starts to date. SMULLEN and WARNE are other debutantes that have looked good at the jumpouts. TRIUMPHANTLY resumes gelded and has trialled well. SHANGHAI VENTURE and GOOD MORGEN are racing well and have a fitness/experience advantage on many others. Selections: 2,1,4,5 Suggested Bet: Happy to look and learn Race 2 OCEANA BLUE will strip fitter third up and drops in grade with Jamie Kah aboard. EMERALD JACK had no luck on debut and looked strong winning his maiden last start, he should be competitive despite the rise in grade. BLUSHING TYCOON will strip fitter and also drops in grade. SILVER TYCOON is another to look good breaking his maiden last start and can make his own luck. EL KABONG and DODGY ONE have claims. Selections: 5,1,2,3 Suggested Bet: Oceana Blue to win Race 3 SO YOU SEE ran well in races of some depth last prep, she looks capable of progressing on to much better races and has jumped out well to resume following throat surgery. LIBERATED GIRL has also been competitive in stronger races and her recent jumpouts have been encouraging. LIFE LESSONS was heavily backed to win her maiden last start and has some upside. The firmer the better for MERLIN’S CHARM who will be close to peak fitness third up. Selections: 3,10,2,11 Suggested Bet: So You See to win Race 4 ST LAWRENCE is lightly raced with upside, he’s unbeaten to date and has jumped out well to resume. BARRETTA will strip fitter for his last run, he gets a claim and a drop in grade. I AM NEWS ran well at his first run for the new stable and Our Redente has subsequently enhanced that form. BRIAN EPSTEIN may have acclimatised better to Australian conditions during his break if his recent jumpouts are a guide. Selections: 4,1,8,5 Suggested Bet: St Lawrence to win Race 5 A number of impressive last start winners clashing in what should prove to be a strong race. SETTEVELI was patiently ridden to win his maiden well on debut at Pakenham and looks promising. CAUSE FOR CONCERN was another impressive debut winner, he can make his own luck and looks drawn to advantage. MIDTOWN BOSS hit the line strongly to break his maiden first up. LONSDALEITE has been jumping out well to resume. CORNER OFF and CHARMING DI are in the mix in a deep race. Selections: 4,2,1,9 Suggested Bet: Setteveli each way Race 6 VERMENTINO is the key runner resuming following his impressive debut victory. He resumes gelded and has jumped out well. PLACE OF GOLD comes back in trip after seeming not to run 1600m last start. POCKET CHANGE has been jumping out nicely and has been effective first up previously. TRADING POST has been freshened, he’s jumped out ok and will be strong late as will GABSTAR. Selections: 9,7,3,8 Suggested Bet: Vermentino to win Race 7 FIRE GLO TOO has had no luck at his two runs since returning from Hong Kong and looks suited stepping up in trip. CLAIDHEAMH MOR ended up in an awkward spot last start, expect him to be ridden more positively here. WISAKA is fit and racing well, he doesn’t look badly treated after the claim and should get a nice run just off the speed. THOUGHT PROVOKING drops in grade after helping set up a fast speed in the Matriarch. TOBAYSURE didn’t have the best of runs last start. Selections: 4,2,1,5 Suggested Bet: Fire Glo Too each way Race 8 Deep race. SAINT OF KATOWICE is effective first up and has jumped out nicely to resume. He should be suited by what appears to be a solid tempo. SHARP RESPONSE should be ready to fire third up and looks well treated after the claim. IT’S TORNADO STORM hasn’t had much luck this prep, he should also appreciate a good speed up front. LINAS LEGEND should be close to his peak fitness now and gets weight relief with the claim. MR MONEY BAGS, NETANYAHU and TARZI CALLING have claims. Selections: 6,4,5,1 Suggested Bet: Saint of Katowice each way Market Market
