Matt Young’s Friday Northam Preview Posted on March 19, 2026March 20, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 LADY CRUNCH TIME (5) has been solid in both runs for the new stable, small field suits and this could map a bit better for her, looks hard to beat. SHOOBETCHYA (2) was a better effort last run and has early speed, no guarantee to find the top but improved sharply last run. PET SHOP ADDA (3) had the perfect run last time out when victorious, won’t be far away and should feature again. RAVENOUS (1) a novelty chance with MISS TRIBECA (4) who has just tapered off a touch after a good debut. Tips: 5 2 3 1 Suggested Bet: LADY CRUNCH TIME (5) to win. Race 2 CHIEF COPY (6) improved nicely from the trial to the first up effort and expecting further improvement again in this, should run a bold race. MISTA EDITORIAL (5) is coming back from a freshen up and may need a run or two, but the class suits him. DON’T GOIN THEWATER (4) has had a few opportunities but shouldn’t be too far away. SATAN PRINCESS (1), CIAO BABE (2) and IDEAL WHITBY (7) all chances with the right run with the latter the best chance out of those in my opinion. Tips: 6 5 7 4 Suggested Bet: CHIEF COPY (6) to win. Race 3 HOT CINDER (3) will be coming off the arm hard and returned to form with a win last time out, she normally holds form once she returns to the zone and is a good leader and loves the distance, if she leads, she will be hard to run down again. THIS TIME JACKO (2) can be a bit hit and miss off the arm which is his concern but the grade suits and he shouldn’t be too far away. PACIFIC EAGLE (4) has had a few chances now, novelty chance in this with ROCKNROLL JEWEL (1) who is improving and has the draw. UNDER THE ALTA (6) drops in grade and can run a better race but trialled moderately on Saturday. Tips: 3 2 4 1 Suggested Bet: HOT CINDER (3) to win. Race 4 SHEZA SASSY LASSY (5) returns and is a smart type, has the advantage in draw and can be driven like the best horse and prove very hard to run down. IT IS CRUNCH TIME (6) was a beaten short priced favourite last time out, will be there at the business end but wouldn’t want to dive into too short given the talent of the on top selection. ART IDEAL (8) has found form when leading, back row draw creates a challenge for him. ON THE BACK FOOT (1) is a novelty chance with the Lang Inwood 4 runners. Tips: 5 6 8 3 Suggested Bet: SHEZA SASSY LASSY (5) to win. Race 5 LEEROY ROX (1) has returned with consistent form, has the draw to lead or be close to the speed and appears hard to beat in this. GET YA BETS ON (7) is first up for the new stable and ideally drawn, look for an improvement in this grade. CULLEN STAR (4) returns and has plenty of ability, he should run a big race. FRANKENSTEINSBRIDE (8) will run on and is a chance if a few things go her way with TWOHEARTONEDIAMOND (2) and THE WHIZZER (3). Tips: 1 4 7 8 Suggested Bet: LEEROY ROX (1) to win. Race 6 GALVINSTON JOHN (1) has the lovely draw and should come out and look to lead, my concern for his chances is him firing up and running along which could open the chances behind him. CODENAME ELLIOT (7) was good in winning on return, has the perfect draw and will get a look at them late, go well. TRUE GRIT (2) returned soundly and has options from the draw, won’t be far away. MACH FREEWAY (3) may have to do some work and is racing only soundly. Tips: 7 1 2 3 Suggested Bet: CODENAME ELLIOT (7) to win. Market Market
