Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on November 22, 2022November 22, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 UNIVERSAL PLAYBOY has trialled super on multiple occasions however the excitement of race day has seen him undone. Out to a Thursday maiden at Northam coming out of a Saturday 3 year old Graduation behind My Bella Mae and Prawns Eleven. Carries the same weight in this maiden as he did in his first-up assignment. Going to give him another chance. THE BIG ONE promised to win one all last preparation. Won’t be a maiden long. PROMISED BRIDE ran well behind Estimator and Military Power first-up. DANUBE RIVER is double nominated for a 3 year old 0MWLY Wednesday and this maiden on Thursday. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – UNIVERSAL PLAYBOY WIN RACE 2 TRIONFANTE won well on debut at Northam when shooting up the cutaway to an impressive victory. Went from her maiden into a 3 year old 0MWLY and finished second behind Swim Through, beating home subsequent maiden winner in Grey Mistress. Should get a nice run midfield and is well suited back to a Class 1. SIOUX CITY looks best served jumping and rolling. Once he finds a rhythm, he can be hard to run down. NUTWOOD was forced to do a mountain of work when chasing Wild Belle/Sky Duke when caught wide on Cup Day. This is easier. RAIN GOD has a tongue tie on. Trials fair and race form when last in work was consistent. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – TRIONFANTE WIN RACE 3 CRYSTALS DREAM was plunged on debut at as a 2 year old when finishing third behind Symphony In Red and Exporose. Her first trial over the 930 was stylish when winning by over 1L and then finished third behind No Peer in a recent 950m trial. Think that trial for can hold up and provided she gets an ounce of luck from what is a really trick alley she looks an above average filly. WEAPONIZE is drawn right alongside her in barrier 12. Was forced to cover ground in his recent trial but was still far too strong for them. NOD AND SMILE finished second to Gold Keeper in his trial. That trial form is also on show on Wednesday at Belmont. WIN TO RETIRE was finishing off really strongly along the inside at trials. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 6 – 13 Suggested Bet – CRYSTALS DREAM WIN RACE 4 CALL ME VIOLET makes her debut for Team Williams and William Pike at 1400m. Her trials over the 950 and 930 indicated she would need a fair bit further and love the fact she’s stepping out over the 7 furlongs on debut. Has run into some very speedy and talented types at trials and has always been working to the line. ROCK MY WAY was $11 into $4.80 on debut last Wednesday at Northam and punters breathed a sigh of relief when she was declared a non-runner after leaving the gates without a rider. Interesting that they use the apprentice. FEELS PLAYFUL wasn’t too bad on debut as a 2 year old. QUILLOW is honest. Numbers: 9 – 10 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – CALL ME VIOLET WIN RACE 5 ANOTHER CHINO was the target of big money on debut. Drew barrier 11 of 12, settled 12 of 12 and passed a few of the tired horses in the home straight to finish fifth only beaten 1.7L. Not entirely convinced on the depth of that as a maiden form reference but this isn’t any deeper and the step to 1400m looks to suit. Drawn better and did settle up on speed in her previous barrier trial. IFFUBLUSH like stablemate Call Me Violet in the previous has been beaten fair and square at trials but looks far more a 1400m type than a 950m type. ORTABEAROCKSTAR finished behind Another Chino in the same race at Belmont on debut. DENZOE didn’t take the Ascot corner at all last start. Numbers: 6 – 10 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – ANOTHER CHINO WIN RACE 6 HENRY THE AVIATOR has bounced between Paul Hunter and David Harrison throughout his career and the way he trialled and won at Albany suggests that he can measure up in this. Drawn awkwardly but is a versatile and progressive type. SAMSURIAN was held up the entire length of the home straight at Geraldton and looked to have plenty in the tank had he seen daylight at any stage. Senior rider back on and should be running his usual consistent top 4 type race. ROCK OF KAHA is better than what he produced last start. ENSIGN PULVER can bob up from time to time. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – HENRY THE AVIATOR WIN RACE 7 MYSTERY ISLAND won the Toodyay Cup second-up at Belmont Park and then two starts later won a 60+ 1600 beating Strike Now and subsequent winners Stylax and Truly Inspired (x2). Returned to the staying trips when finishing second to All Man 7 days later and that form held up with All Man winning the York Cup. Freshened, back to 1600, back in grade and W.Pike to ride. Proven weight carrier and classy type on his day. GREAT FORTUNE is more than capable. He is drawn to get an economical run and Brad Parnham rides him well. DENIM PACK covered a stack of ground last start and still kept coming to the line. HENCHARD can sit back and have last crack. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – MYSTERY ISLAND WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 9,10 6,9,10 2,4,5,7 1,2,5,7 Market Market
