Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on June 11, 2021June 11, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BOONDI ROCKS was a late scratching at the most recent Kalgoorlie meeting gifting the race to equal favourite Wunderkind. Previous effort in defeat at the hands of Iron Sharp was strong enough and having started his career with Colin Webster it’s a bonus having a travelling Jordan Turner to steer. FIRST MOMENT comes from the same race and was beaten a fair way behind Boondi Rocks. They always improve for Fernie. ANDRIETTE is having her first start for Freddo Brown and enjoys the run of the race. LOUSIANA ROCK brings intrigue as a 2 year old making her debut against the older horses. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – BOONDI ROCKS RACE 2 TENA KOUTOU and GARAGE DAYS go head to head as stablemates who have both run well enough to go close in this and both look like winning more than just a Kalgoorlie maiden throughout their career. Clint Johnston-Porter sides with TENA KOUTOU so we’ll follow the lead. Ran well first-up behind stablemate Sunsphere and with Free Solo and Private Poet running well it looks the obvious form reference. GARAGE DAYS has found a lot of bad luck in his short career. Clear danger. WORLD RULER gave them something to run down last start. Serious cheek out in front. JOLLY LACE is consistent. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – TENA KOUTOU WIN RACE 3 MISS ZEDEL looks well placed here. Last start stepped out in a 58+ when running second to handy country mare Peko. Steps from 1400m up to 1600m and drops back into a C2. Looks ready to fire third-up from a spell and is a versatile mare who can be ridden to suit track conditions. Should go close to breaking through. MAGIC OF ZEUS is a plumb pick up ride for Brad Rawiller. Has improved lengths since joining MR Peter Fernie. Deep the trip last start and kept coming impressively. COCKY ED won well last start and can go on with it now. HIP WIGGLE should be suited to this grade. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – MISS ZEDEL WIN RACE 4 KENTUCKY LOVE was a super run first-up this campaign at 1100m when racing wide from the 800 and sustaining an effort when looking under pressure turning for home. Got the better of Blooms late in the race and she has been competitive again since. Ran second at 1200m in a Sky Provincial Series heat behind Neat Action and then last time out stepped from 1200 to 1600 when finishing third to Fingermark in a 64+. Drops back to a 56+, excellent use of the Snag Man’s 3kg claim and can settle on speed. DALGARANGA has been building slowly but surely into the campaign and looks ready. MAJOR MAMBO (nee. Lacka) is rarely seen in this grade and runs for Mitch Pateman. READY TO RIDE had nothing go right last start. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – KENTUCKY LOVE WIN RACE 5 MR GENOA ended up in an awkward position in running last start from the inside draw. Kind of horse who is probably better suited to being drawn mid-out rather than in close. His run two starts ago splitting Magniforce and Wiener Waltz was brilliant and his run last start was better than it looks on paper. Gets another great opportunity to win here. BALLADEER has no weight after the claim for Jett Stanley, is drawn a gate to settle midfield with cover and has a huge pull in the weights on his main danger in Mr Genoa. Nice aggressive placement. NURHACI could be on the quick back up from Wednesday and if he is he’ll have plenty of admirers. WOCKNWOLL is a talented mare who is never far from them. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – MR GENOA WIN RACE 6 THE BEACH is E1 and will need to gain a start. IF she does she looks to have found a lovely race. Has the gate speed to burn across from the outside and her recent effort when taking a sit (against her normal race pattern) was a ripper. Got out and around heels, showed a turn of foot and was only nabbed late by Balladeer who heads to 70+ grade. PROTECTED ACTION is having a break out season and races on speed and takes luck out of the equation. BELLE OF LIBERTY had a hit and miss preparation when last in work. Her best is definitely good enough. PARIS REPORT is proving hard to catch. Should get the race run to suit. Numbers: (11) – 6 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – THE BEACH WIN (IF GAINING A START) RACE 7 EXCERPT was scratched from the soft7 conditions at Pinjarra on Thursday to save for this, however, under the ballot conditions he now gets pushed down to E1 and will rely on an early scratching to gain a start and justify the float trip. IF he gets a start he’s the obvious with the plumb draw. Ran very well first-up in a high speed race at York and let down impressively late. HERRON SANDY was up to her old tricks first-up when flopping out the back and missing the kick. Trainer Justin Thomas heads to Darwin to watch Noir De Rue go round so pressure on stable foreman Siefa and #1 strapper Stevie Hinchliffe to keep happy pre-race. SAINT CLEMENTS kept fighting last start and was over a month between runs. IRON SHARP won his maiden in style. Numbers: (13) – 3 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – EXCERPT WIN (IF GAINING A START) Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3 1,3,7,9 1,3,4,5,6,8,10,(11),(12) 1,3,4,7,(13) Market Market
