Scott Embry’s Sunday Bunbury Preview Posted on January 6, 2024January 6, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TERRATIFF has her first start for Grant & Alana Williams and has shown more than enough in three runs to suggest she’s going to be hard to beat at her return. On debut she finished second behind Written Melody and then two starts later finished third behind Ancient Guidance on a Saturday. Trial was strong behind Justabittapress, however, it was now almost 6 weeks ago. Races in the colours of popular South West trainer Holly Palmer who farewells the training caper on Sunday. Fingers crossed for a strong showing. DON’TTHINKJUSTDRINK and SHASFA are both likely to run this hard and fast as both are naturally speedy fillies. MAGNASONIC finished second to Camera Action in a trial on 18 December. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – TERRATIFF WIN RACE 2 ON A WINNING DAY was hammered in betting at her WA debut and loomed large on straightening. Couldn’t quite get the better of Hit The Jackpot in the run to the post but was still a solid return to racing. From the barrier gets a similar run and with an extra 100m to run them down looks a big chance in the Michael Lane Racing Maiden. LORD SHIVA was sent out $1.40 first-up down the straight but found Tawkin Jibberish a bit too sharp. He won’t be a maiden long. SECRET ATTIRE was held up the entire length of the home straight at her first outing for Luke Fernie. Forget she even went to the races. PAPAVERO PRINCESS was lucky to stay on her feet at Geraldton when almost knocked over on straightening. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – ON A WINNING DAY WIN RACE 3 DARK MISSILE has had four runs this preparation and they’ve all had merit. Second to Our Nemesis, second to subsequent winner New Music and most recently third behind Fellafromdownunder after engaging in a battle of tactics for most of the race and being forced into making a run at them on straightening. Fresh 28 days between runs and William Pike likely to either lead and dictate or sit patiently leader’s back. Another good chance to break through. DREAMTIME JEAN held his own last start in a 0MWLY behind I Dreamed A Dream (races at Ascot on Saturday) and subsequent winner Guarding Heaven. ROO LORD ran well on debut and then was all at sea at Ascot. AUDIO BOY found the line well at Geraldton last start. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – DARK MISSILE WIN RACE 4 SENTIMENTAL BELLE resumed in a C3 behind Ima Single Gal and subsequent 66+ winner Harmika and then went to a C1 at Pinjarra and bumped into Esprit Garcon who has since won a C3 at Ascot. She was held up repeatedly at crucial stages in that event and didn’t get out until the race was over. Has been costly but this looks another great assignment for her. PLAY DICE was really good last start when working at various stages in the race and still showing a distinct turn of acceleration on straightening. She’s got genuine ability and plenty of upside. SPECIAL HEART won impressively down the straight on debut. She exploded under little riding for a raw and exciting win. ROMMEL’S ANGEL tries hard. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – SENTIMENTAL BELLE WIN RACE 5 CITINO got to the line powerfully first-up behind Lost Gravity and then was a complete forgive run last start when copping significant interference from a riderless horse. Given 4 weeks between runs (like stablemate Dark Missile earlier in the program) and now reunites with William Pike. Forgive and forget. Following up here. MY JIMMY put the writing on the wall last start behind Play Dice. It’s just the barrier that’s hard to get your head around. GALILEA has attacked the line hard at her last two runs. WIFE SAYS YES (rare) has trialled behind some really nice animals recently. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 16 Suggested Bet – CITINO WIN RACE 6 SWEAR TO GOD is back to a C3, back to 1000 and nearly at cross roads. We’re talking about a 2x Saturday 2 year old SWP winner and a 66+ winner as a 3 year old when beating the older horses. This is the lowest graded race he has contested in his entire 16 start career but he’s also a shade of his former self at the minute. If he’s anywhere near his best he’ll win this and win it well, but you’ll be taking him on pure trust because his last few months have been well below his best. Would love to see him bounce back. MAGNALEE won a C3 1000 at Ascot last start and after the ZJP claim carries 1.5kg less here. Looms as a big danger. SIMPLY ROSSO won well last start in a C2 at Albany. AUNTY JEAN continues to go well. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – SWEAR TO GOD WIN RACE 7 SNIPPY WHICH is double accepted for Saturday at Ascot and Sunday at Bunbury. If they scratch from Saturday to avoid running into Costazita and instead elect to tackle this C1 1200 he’ll take beating. First-up run was a ripper. DREAMERS NEVER DIE has visors going on and William Pike returning to the saddle. He’s got X-Factor and will be winning again very soon. OREGON HIKER went into his first-up assignment 6 weeks between trial and race day and was found wanting late. Second-up he stripped much fitter, bounced out of the gates and never looked like being run down. UNCLE GERARD was a great return to racing. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – SNIPPY WHICH WIN RACE 8 VALLEY OF QUEENS can really let rip from time to time. She won a C3 1675 at Bunbury three starts back by 5L and then went to Pinjarra when disappointing. Bounced out of that when returning to a C5 1675 (this track/distance/grade) with another impressive 2L victory. She hails from a stable who has produced 6 winners from it’s last 22 starts (30 day period!) and if she finds the right back to follow will be hard to hold out again. CALL AGAIN can lead this field and from there can try to skip clear on straightening. DISTRUSTFUL AWARD has been getting back and running home in big fields so far in WA. ULTIMATE STYLE won well first-up at Albany and then may have been a victim of circumstance second-up. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – VALLEY OF QUEENS WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,4,7 1,2 2,3,5 1,2,4,6,7 Market Market
