Scott Embry’s Sunday Albany Preview Posted on December 23, 2021December 23, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LE GRAND AMOUR looks very new and very raw but from the trials and the debut effort down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra clearly has a level of ability. Drawn awkwardly out in barrier 8 but showed sufficient gate speed in the trials to get across and breeze. From there ability should take her a long way. GINGER GREEN has always promised to win a maiden. Finished second to Congreve Rocket, third behind Speedbird and Castillo Del Lago and second to Dark Assault. Has all the race form you’d like and has to be the clear danger. GIN FRENZY joins the yard of Roy Rogers who can get them going fresh. BETTER IN KIT should kick through to lead and gives a lot of cheek. Good quality maiden. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – LE GRAND AMOUR WIN RACE 2 ACTING GOD gets one last chance (I promise). Has only missed the money twice from 9 starts but this is his final chance as the on top winning selection. Finished second behind talented SJ Wolfe 3 year old Knot Secret last start and should finally break through on paper. From the draw he has no excuses. If he doesn’t get the job done then he becomes the costliest conveyance of 2021 and is forgotten. ELDORADO RIVER is the stablemate and while the last two runs don’t read well on the form guide, they’re both better than they look. First-up run was super. LUKE’S PIERRO should be winning a maiden for Paul Hunter. KUTSANYA ran well on debut. Didn’t fire second-up. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – ACTING GOD WIN RACE 3 SHOWADDYWADDY joins the stables of SJ Wolfe who is having a great start to the 2021/22 season, especially with these tried types. Was a winner first-up 1400m at Northam back in May off a 120 day let-up and now returns to the races off 165 days. Not knocked around in the recent trial and capable of surprising a few of these fresh. SOULSANA has a set of shades on and his first-up run suggested he wouldn’t be a C1 for very long. RUBY JEAN has been building and building into the campaign. Looks ready to win one and love seeing the bars come off. FRIAR THE GUN was the eye catching run of the race last start. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – SHOWADDYWADDY EACHWAY RACE 4 OXBRIDGE gets his chance to turn the tables on the stablemate Classic Rogue. Finished off as well as him last start when beaten under half a length and now gets a 1.5kg weight swing on him. Shouldn’t be much between them and last start was more like him. Just needs an ounce of luck from a tricky draw. CLASSIC ROGUE is in undeniably good form at the minute. He should get a near identical run to last start and see no reason why he can’t win again. CHASING CHAOS is fool proof. He’s now fit and he’ll roll forward and keep punching. LITTLE PUNGA is always highly competitive in this grade. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – OXBRIDGE WIN RACE 5 CLASSIC MAGNUS drops 3kg on her last start effort and if you can forgive that flop when the blinkers came off then her previous two for Peter Western (with shades on) were excellent. He puts the blinkers straight back onto her and if she can reproduce the first-up run with 61 or the second-up run with 57.5 then she should be finishing off well in this and playing a part at an eachway price. SAX ON QUE does seem to go better at Narrogin than anywhere else but it’s hard to ignore the way he’s attacking the line. CARMURLEA is a jump and run type of mare. Keep safe here as she should get things her own way. MORGS FREEMAN has a senior back on. Forgive last start, not pretty. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – CLASSIC MAGNUS WIN RACE 6 COCKYJOY looked extremely well placed last start and the punters were able to cash in. She was very well supported from $4.80 into $3.20 late in betting and never looked like losing in the run. Won it soft in the end and expect that she’ll again take beating coming up into 70+ grade and getting right down to 54.5kg in the weights. Don’t think she’s going as well as she was 12 months ago but she’s going well enough to win this. APOLLO you can always get a run out of fresh and his trial was soft. Drawn to get the run he needs. WIENER WALTZ hasn’t fired a shot so far on the grass but should find the fence here. Improver. KENDELS MEE DAD might be looking for further at this stage of his preparation but he’s a tryer. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – COCKYJOY WIN RACE 7 MR CAUSEWAY is drawn inside the speedy stablemate Can’t Get Enough so he should land in a great position over the top of the tempo. Think that he’ll be the stronger of the two at the end of 1230m and provided that they don’t overcook it between themselves mid-race he should be there abouts. Was taken to town last start and wasn’t disgraced in a high rating C3. CANDIJAY will need luck from a wide draw but looks another live chance on a big day for the Hunter yard. CABLE BOY is a shade of his former self. Showed ability early days but now just a horse. CAN’T GET ENOUGH is going to be hit and miss with her all or nothing race pattern. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – MR CAUSEWAY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,4,5 1,5,6,7,8 5,7,8 2,3,4,6 Market Market
