Scott Embry’s Saturday Carnarvon Preview Posted on September 12, 2024September 12, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CHEWING THE FAT ran second to On The Mark in the fastest maiden that Carnarvon has seen in seasons two starts back and then was very well commissioned last weekend at Junction. Back to Carnarvon, off 7 days and Austin sticks. Nice set up for him. KING OF FRANCE has the speed to lead and that always means you have to keep him safe. FAIR GRACE was disappointing last start after a freshen. She’s better than that. MADAME SHIH gets Tash Faithfull and that brings attention. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – CHEWING THE FAT WIN RACE 2 SPREAD THE RUMOUR was recently acquired by Darryn Pateman in an Inglis Online auction and now heads up to Carnarvon off a 58 day spacing between runs. He’s quick (very quick) and should be a very handy dirt galloper in the coming seasons. Going to speculate on him fresh. BOLTA has contested 2x 56+ races since breaking his maiden and while rocketing up to 62kg he’s back into a C1 for the first time. Barrier 1 – not ideal, bars – not ideal. THE RUSH finds a new home and has handy grass form to her name. WESTERN IMPACT may be better suited back in trip. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – SPREAD THE RUMOUR WIN RACE 3 BOURBON BEAU had five runs in Broome this season and his best run saw him finish second to Red Rebel and beat home Mosquito in a 58+ 1435. He attacks this fresh and comes back to 1000m. Hard to line him up but on ability he’ll make his presence felt. WUHAN WARRIOR has a poor 1000m record for a jump and run type of horse. He also seems to be a lead or nothing commodity so expect that Jess Gray throws the kitchen sink at him early, especially drawn 1. PRIMATIVE continues to race well and can stalk the speed. HEARTFORD HOUSE drops 4kg from his run at Junction. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – BOURBON BEAU WIN RACE 4 STREET MASCHINO has enjoyed a ripper season with Cathy Godden in Broome. Won a C1 1435 and a C2 1600 before running second to a white hot Money For Old Rope over the Cup week. Like this race for him. CASTILLO DEL LAGO hasn’t raced for 6 weeks since being crunched in betting and running them ragged over 1700m this track/distance/grade last time out. Again there’s a fair few in the market who are drawn barrier 1 and could be in trouble if crossed early – he’s one of them. MAN FROM MEMPHIS won well last start. SLY AS A FOX is trying hard. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – STREET MASCHINO WIN RACE 5 RED REBEL has been another brilliant acquisition and astute purchase by Darryn Pateman. He had 6 runs in Broome and never finished further back than third. He’s jump and run and he’s more than capable of making a race out of this. SAINTLY CITY can kick through to hold a spot and tried hard behind all conquering Dark City last start. DREAM TO ME is an extremely talented mare who is having her first start on the dirt for Glen Cortes. She’s lumped with 62kg and she’s never raced on the surface. Class horse but looks a real unknown? GOLDEN FIGHTER faces another tough map. Numbers: 7 – 10 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – RED REBEL WIN RACE 6 SET THE SCENE was the only one the punters wanted last start and justified their confidence with a dominant win. He won by 6L and they stopped the clock 11L faster than average. It was a massive career PB and if he reproduces then he’s the one to beat. MARXIAN was a bizarre run last start. He looked like he was going to be eased out of the race at the 1000m when losing touch with the field and then came again in the last 200m and through the line? Weird. GAMBLERS GOLD ran well in the Broome Cup into third. REGAL CITY steps out to 2000m which is probably right on the limit of his distance range. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – SET THE SCENE WIN RACE 7 GO GO GRACIE was produced first-up off 74 days at her first outing on the Carnarvon dirt and she ran past them like they were glued to the track. Kept fresh, same weight, same grade, same result? Hard to trust a horse who won at 50s but she did win with arrogance. MOORUMBINE is giving 110% and keeps coming under pressure but he continues to find one better than him. HEAR MY PRAYER was smashed in betting last start but never really got into the contest. WISE WORDS has been in tremendous form all preparation but has weight and a wide draw to contend with. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – GO GO GRACIE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2 3,7,10 1,2,3,4,6,7 1,4,5,6,8,10 Market Market
