Scott Embry’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on July 9, 2021July 9, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 JONO had his first start on the dirt 13 days ago and finished off really well after making a mess of the start and the early stages. Was beaten 8L but was the only horse back in the field to make any impression. Experience helps, extra 100m helps and he strikes another winnable race. THE FIBONACCI travelled the winner last start and then clearly resented the kickback when he threw his head to the skies and was looking for the moon. Hopefully he can race tractably for Jerry Noske on the back-up. MIAMI MOON continues to race honestly and consistently without winning. WILD STAR hasn’t had a race for 499 days but has had more trials than the Rockingham Magistrates Court. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – JONO WIN RACE 2 STRIKE FORCE and ELLEOFADEEL clash off the back of individually impressive last start victories. Strike Force off 7 days from a 70+ win which was perfectly on class average time and Elleofadeel from a 64+ which was 4.5L slower than class average. Naturally I’ll side with the class and clock and go with STRIKE FORCE to make it two on the bounce but no surprise to see the progressive dirt mare ELLEOFADEEL win again on her way to the Broome Cups campaign. She looks to be loving the new home and gets in with a huge pull in the weights. DECEPTION GAME went around for a track gallop at his Broome debut. Improver. UNIVERSAL MAE has a race pattern against her but continues to hit the line. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – STRIKE FORCE WIN RACE 3 THE WISE ONE has had a great little preparation for Darryn Pateman and proven to be a fruitful ride for new apprentice Rosie Mahony. Is seriously quick when ridden for speed and coming back to the 1000m scamper expecting Rosie to do what she does best and #keepimproving. Looks a great jump, run chance in a high speed race. CLASSY LASSY is no slouch and will be kicking up underneath for Maddy Cornick. Great placement back into a C2 by team Casey. MOORUMBINE is likely chasing in behind them but gets significant weight relief. ROCK THE PLANET likely to do it tough. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – THE WISE ONE WIN RACE 4 STUMBLE backs up off 7 days from an arrogant victory at 1400m. Steps to a mile and meets a very similar level of opponent here. Jess Gray’s claim is a handy bonus with her imposing riding statistics over the last 90 days (17.5% strike rate, 9.6% POT). Teaming up with Darryn Pateman at 19% in the same period and looks another big winning chance. BRING EURO brings intrigue and brings Paul Martin to trackwork in the mornings. Kind of horse who could thrive in the region and if Jerry Noske can lead them up will take running down. Big danger. HOOLAHOOPS was disappointing last start, previous form strong. CRASH HAT LADY has been chasing hard at the short course. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – STUMBLE WIN RACE 5 IN THE BAG looks another big chance for the combination of Gray & Pateman. Comes from the alternate NW form at Port Hedland but comes from a pair of strong efforts at 1400 and 1600 when sitting on speed and being attacked. Has been brave the last two and should be able to hold the front here. The way he’s going he’ll take running down. UNBREAKABLE is having a good season and Angela Johnston is starting to punch home a few winners. REDS MATE again backs up off 7 days and was dominant (again) recording back to back wins. Searching for a hattrick and showing a sustained turn of foot. STAFFORDS LAD continues to catch the eye. Waiting for him to get to 2000. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – IN THE BAG WIN RACE 6 DESERT THORN couldn’t reel them in last start and was left a beaten favourite in fourth. The engagement of Rosie Mahony makes this a very interesting affair because he gets such incredible weight swings on rivals. If she can keep him out of trouble and get him to work through his gears from the 600 he’ll be charging down the centre. WIENER WALTZ is a new comer to the region and adds even more speed into an already frenetic race (Wiener Waltz, Song of Vincent, Miss Ellmya). Could be last man standing type of stuff. SONG OF VINCENT is tough as old boots and will need to be from the draw. KENNEDY can punch up in behind them into a nice position. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – DESERT THORN WIN RACE 7 MONASH backs up off 7 days and has really hit form. Dominant win in 58+ company on the 27th and then last week took the step to 70+ grade and was far from disgraced when running second to Strike Force at 1435. Drops back in grade, backs up and is now really appreciating being ridden for speed. Sits on top of the pace and takes holding out. SLICK UNIT steps to relatively unchartered territory getting out in trip to 1435. Going super, just need to see him stick it out. OLD BAILEY very similar profile. Unknown at the distance but has returned to racing well for Bruce Kay. WATCH ME NEY NEY is likely back on the fence and copping kick back. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – MONASH WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,7 1,6,7,9 4,5,8,9 2,6,8,9,10 Market Market
