Scott Embry’s Saturday Roebourne Preview

RACE 1

CAN’TCATCHTHIS had her first start for Tom Pike 63 days ago when giving real cheek at Carnarvon when only run down late by Miss Brighton. Following the form through the stablemate in the NW at Port Hedland/Roebourne it should hold up as a strong enough maiden form reference and she has speed to burn. SNOW PRINCESS continues to hit the line and looks a great ride for returning hoop Banjo Paterson. MUMSTHEONE has promised to win one for seasons. Going along ok and gets a touch of weight relief. AUTOMATIC is a new comer to the region having her first start on the surface.

Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 6

Suggested Bet – CAN’TCATCHTHIS WIN

RACE 2

DEMERITISE was a strong winner at the opening meeting at Roebourne and that form held up strongly at the next outing when Chengdu (who she beat home first-up) turned the tables on her. With a 1.5kg weight swing back in her favour from the last outing she can return serve and again turn the tables and push it back in her direction. With clear running looks hard to hold out. CHENGDU is a rising 10 year old but has put the writing on the wall at his last couple of outings. TUMUT RIVER drops 5kg into this and kept out wide at Roebourne can be a good thing. MAMMIE has taken a few by surprise and is getting better with racing.

Numbers: 6 – 3 – 5 – 9

Suggested Bet – DEMERITISE WIN

RACE 3

AMBER HIGHWAY dominated them last start at Port Hedland jumping, running and romping in by over 7 lengths. The overall race time was 4L faster than C3 average and the form held up in Broome with Stumble winning last Saturday and looking a massive chance again this Saturday. Just needs to hold form to be hard to beat. RIVAROLA is the class horse and stepping out to 1600m will see him sitting back and doing his best work late in the race. CLEOS AFTERPARTY has a new lease on life on the dirt and is racing consistently. PATYS FORCAST was huge two starts ago and then last start lost all chance out of the gates.

Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 8

Suggested Bet – AMBER HIGHWAY WIN

RACE 4

PLEAD THE FIFTH has been a revelation for Cath Godden’s stables since being purchased as a tried mare. Winner of a Kojonup Cup, Mingenew Cup, Dongara Cup and last start was a 1600m winner at Roebourne when stamping herself as the horse to beat in the 2021 Roebourne Cup as well as any outer country Cup this season. WAR KSAR is no slouch and gets a 1kg weight swing on her for only being beaten 2L. Should close the gap. PLAYING ZEUS brings the alternate form and looks a difference horse when against the fence to when sitting in his races. Interesting to see if Haddon wants the rail this time. GALIBA is going too well to ignore.

Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 5

Suggested Bet – PLEAD THE FIFTH WIN

RACE 5

COUNTER DRIVE is on the 8 day back-up after having travelled from Carnarvon to Roebourne with Nat Burke’s yard making the move up further North. Has the consistent Carnarvon form and gets 4.5kg weight relief coming into this. Is more than capable of sitting over the speed and fighting his way to victory in a wide open race. URBAN GIRL is a query over the 1400m but should find the front without any worries. MAKFI AMOUR is drawn inside and may need an ounce of luck but is well placed here. SIXPENCE SPENT like all of Brian Rogers horses is flying.

Numbers: 5 – 8 – 4 – 2

Suggested Bet – COUNTER DRIVE WIN

RACE 6

BIG CAROLINE vs FRIARS GIFT does look an intriguing clash between stable ‘stars’ who are both in white hot form. BIG CAROLINE has her first look at Roebourne but she is capable of sitting off them in the moving line and simply grinding rivals into the ground. Love the way she’s going and she can carry the weight and still win. Love to see her get out in trip soon. FRIARS GIFT has the big weight swing on the stablemate. No surprise to see him dominate this after an impressive last start win. CULZEAN is ever consistent and drops 6kg in weight. VITAL TOUCH can kick through underneath them to nearly lead this field.

Numbers: 1 – 4 – 6 – 10

Suggested Bet – BIG CAROLINE WIN
