Scott Embry’s Saturday Albany Preview Posted on January 10, 2025January 10, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 G’DAY BLOKE is proving a very difficult horse to follow with any confidence because he’s simply doing too much wrong. He looks very hard to beat on paper in this provided that Kyra Yuill can get him to go 75% straight (easier said than done). Risky betting proposition. LE BEAU has winkers on, draws a gate and finds a weak maiden. LENDANEAR improved at his most recent trial, however, they also went 59.43 over the 950m so couldn’t have gone much slower. MILITARY JANE next best. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – G’DAY BLOKE WIN RACE 2 OPTIMAL is knocking on the door for a win and the Ashleigh Woollett team is going really well. He has finished second at three of his last five outings and this preparation alone has only missed the money once and that was over an unsuitable 1240m. Tash Faithfull on and barrier 1 – he really gets his chance. BRANDBERG finished second to Foxmania last start and is now back out to a mile. Looks Taj Dyson’s best chance of kicking home an early winner at his return to race riding. PUSH TO PLAY met with some support at big odds on debut. MISSIJAY went well at Bunbury. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – OPTMIAL WIN RACE 3 ODINAKA didn’t beat one home last start, however, the winner (Prophet and Power) has won his last three and prior to that in the Profit Pocket race he did beat home key rival Outspoken Lad. Great race for him. OUTSPOKEN LAD will find this much easier than recent 72+ and 66+ races in town and the Pearce Brothers have a great strike rate with travelling these horses down to 70+ country meetings (think Exceltrain / Starring Knight etc). LITTLE SILVER is another who returns to the country after finding them a bit sharp in town. He’s more than capable. AGENT JAY is an unknown at the distance. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – ODINAKA WIN RACE 4 HIT THE JACKPOT won first-up at Albany in a C2 a month ago and has since been back to trials. Well placed, same grade, same track and over an even shorter distance of 1000m and after the claim of Chanel Cooper carries half a kilo less this time around. Hard to beat. DO DA DITTY won a 46+ at Narrogin when really well supported in betting. Expect they’ll look for the top again. OUR GIRL BORAM and SPEEDY NOVA are improving into their respective preparations. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – HIT THE JACKPOT WIN RACE 5 FRANTIC WAR was well supported last start to topple in form mare of the region Flick The Switch. Missed by a nose in the finish and now finds a race where he can break through into the winner’s circle. VONSNIP has had a freshen since the Regional Championship Final and while she has 61kg on her back she’s very well proven in this grade and Sam Faithfull doesn’t claim which could be a sign of intent. BLUE LINE can mix his form but his best is good enough. MOCHA DREAM has a really negative racing pattern. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – FRANTIC WAR WIN RACE 6 MAKIN PROPHETS went around $2.40 two starts back after an eye catching performance at his first run for Alan Smith. Disappointed that day but bounced back hard most recently with a strong win. He can go through the grades. BEAUTIFUL BAROQUE just like Vonsnip in the previous hasn’t raced for 6 weeks since going around at Ascot. Her fresh run behind Pretty Devine at Northam was super and then she won this grade with 58kg second-up. MORE LIKELY should find this a bit easier than recent assignments but is another off a freshen. PLAYIN’ HARDBALL next best. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – MAKIN PROPHETS WIN RACE 7 GOLDEN DORE is a more than handy galloper for Dave Hopperton and if he was to produce the turn of foot he showed on debut at Bunbury when winning from near last on the corner then he would be very hard to hold out late. Has a placing to Belta Of A Song and has a real X-Factor. UNIVERSAL PLAYBOY will find the right race in the near future. Anthony Barton – Simone Altieri is a ridiculously good strike rate combination. WEATHER QUEEN won effortlessly on debut at Narrogin and can go on with it. SHASFA is quick. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – GOLDEN DORE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,6 1,4 1,7 1,2,6,8 Market Market
