Matt Young’s Friday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on June 18, 2026June 18, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 UP AND ALIVE (1) was fantastic last time out with a strong run from the tail of the field, she has the draw to lead and control this and looks incredibly hard to run down. SHEER ROCK LADY (8) is a classy mare on return, but trial was sound and likely needs a hit out and the draw is against her, but she has the talent to be prominent. MINOR CATASTROPHE (10) lives for the soft run and draws ideally here, strong place claims. ICY COLD (2) will settle close enough to come into novelty contention with MISS UNEEK (3) and tricky draws for OFFICIAL ROCK (5) and DIAMONDSAREFOREVER (9). Tips: 1 10 8 3 Suggested Bet: UP AND ALIVE (1) to win. Race 2 MAJOR MIKI WHITBY (7) has the draw advantage over some of his main rivals and expect him to be driven like the best horse in this and think he’ll return to the winners list. ELITE FLEET (12) got a fitness run last time out and is a capable type, will rely on some luck from the draw again but should run home well with CAPTAIN SAID SO (11) who is racing well. Awkward draw for TROUBADOUR (10) who is a difficult one to get a gauge on at this stage. Novelty chances to CANELO (1), SMOKEYS SHADOW (2), FLYIN DISCO (3) and ROMAN LEGION (9). Tips: 7 12 11 3 Suggested Bet: MAJOR MIKI WHITBY (7) to win. Race 3 Nice field in this. SWEET PINS (9) faces a challenging draw but is racing so well, I think he is suited with the depth in this race to be the last one flashing and go over the top of them with his high speed. MEDIEVAL MAN (8) is low flying and will be working forward looking for the breeze and will keep it honest. DELULU (1) will be trying to hold a forward position but there is some speed to her outside and depth in this is strong. OPAL HUNTER (3) has won two in a row and has good early speed, would give them something to catch again. ROCKOKOKO (5) is second up and thought he was solid on return, relies more on high speed. A LITTLE SILENCE (7) faces a tough draw and may have to do some work in his race again. Tips: 9 8 3 5 Suggested Bet: SWEET PINS (9) to win. Race 4 GEE HEZA SPORT (9) has the class to overcome the wide draw, distance suits him nicely to be able to watch things unfold and then be put into it at the right time, looks hard to hold out. OUR CRUNCH TIME (1) was a nice winner two starts ago and beaten at Pinjarra in a quick last section, good test for him but could run well given he has a high cruising speed. HALE SAINT LOUIE (10) is in the perfect position to be a solid place chance; he sits on speed well. SOHO MOONRAKER (2) rises in grade, and the draw could see him shuffled back. DOUBLE PARKED (3) has been sound since coming to WA, good test to see how he will measure up. YOURE SO FINE (12) will be running on from the back of the field but is reliant on some tempo and novelty chances to BETTORS PRIDE (4) and ALTA TRIBUTE (6) who is flying. Tips: 9 1 10 12 Suggested Bet: HALE SAINT LOUIE (10) to place. Race 5 FAKENIT (2) will be gunning for the top in this and if she does find the lead she will win but is still good enough to win from a forward position in my opinion but will be an interesting battle. ITS MAA TIME (1) comes in fresh and has plenty of ability but has yet to recapture her best form we saw last time in, likely to try and lead. EASTBRO CHRISSY (3) looks an interesting runner again, she has won both runs in WA but won’t get the luxury of leading here so will get a genuine gauge on her tonight. AARDIEBYTHESEASIDE (5) not quite at her best but is still very much a major player in this, map and draw are a bit challenging. HEAVENLY GIPSY (8) going well enough but faces a tough draw. PAROQUET (10) lacks early speed but is a novelty chance if she isn’t shuffled too far back. RUBY LOVERA (12) racing well and will close off strongly. Tips: 2 1 5 12 Suggested Bet: FAKENIT (2) to win. Race 6 CEE DEE THREE (3) has returned with some nice form and think he will settle close enough to the speed in one way or another and looks a strong chance to feature here. DEL BOCAVISTA BAY (1) has the draw and dazzling form on the country circuit, has been featuring strongly in races he hasn’t been used in recently but has been a good front runner in the past. FINAL COLLECT (4) looks the likely breeze horse again and should stick it out nicely in this again. WHOS THE DAD (10) will get the soft run and can feature into the top 4 and the map looks a bit awkward for THELITTLE MASTER (6) and CAMS BOULDER (7) who are both competing well. Tips: 3 4 1 10 Suggested Bet: CEE DEE THREE (3) each way. Race 7 ARETHA (1) returns and trialled up in moderate time and should bounce of that well, she is a good front running type and looks likely to lead and run a good race. MIKIS PRIDE (9) is highly talented on return and appears dangerous in this even though he is first up, respect. KOOJAN (6) is a consistent performer and likely heads forward to race close to the speed. WAVE REBELLION (2) has the talent and gets her best draw in a while. FLY TO THE FINISH (7) going well but draw is awkward and MANHATTAN MOON (10) luckless last run and has the soft draw to feature in the placings. Tips: 1 9 6 10 Suggested Bet: ARETHA (1) to win. Race 8 ART IDEAL (6) should charge across and likely finds the top here, Kylah Madden gets this horse off the arm well and if he finds the pegs I think he will win, massive two starts ago and was solid in defeat at Bunbury last Saturday night. AZIONE (2) is improving nicely with two recent wins, early speed will be called into question here and should run well either way. HOLY HECKA (8) is the class of the field but is first up from the tough draw, class can lift him into a top 3 position. CODENAME ELLIOT (1) racing well enough to finish in the top 4 with other novelty chances to TRUE GRIT (5), UNDER THE ALTA (7) and CALL TO ARMS (10). Tips: 6 8 2 10 Suggested Bet: ART IDEAL (6) to win. Race 9 Open race. JACKIE DANIELS (2) isn’t a known front runner but may be driven to try and lead this as she has been racing soundly and the grade suits. CURADH (12) needs some things to go his way but has been rocketing home recently and will look dangerous in the run. ILLAWONG MUSTANG (9) was bolting first up, tough draw but is one that can win from anywhere. CLOUD NINE (4) is first up but highly capable in this field, might need a run though. STATE MY CASE (5) is ready to win but this is an awkward draw for her, she has good closing speed. PINNY NOIR (6) racing better not being used early but temptation could be there and MAJOR FREEWAY (7) hasn’t had much luck prior to his second in the Kellerberrin Cup, likely to press forward as well. Tips: 12 2 9 5 Suggested Bet: CURADH (12) each way. Race 10 IN FULL FLIGHT (4) likely charges out looking for the top again, won well at Pinjarra in good time and will give them something to catch. KATAMA (8) has been in good form since her initial defeat in the west, but only other defeat was when she couldn’t lead, likely to have to do some work here but has depth. INSURGENCY (5) is racing well and likely will be close enough to the speed and could be dangerous. BETTER TOGETHER (6), CHEFS KISS (7) will both be running on and interesting that Liam Elliott drives LADY MERMAID (3) who was a nice effort last run and might be considered the better chance for Ryan Bell here. Tips: 4 8 5 7 Suggested Bet: INSURGENCY (5) each way. Market Market
