Matt Young’s Saturday Northam Preview Posted on June 18, 2026June 18, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 MY MACHANE (8) moves to Dylan Egerton-Green’s stable and was a more encouraging run last time out, has a nice draw to follow the speed in this and looks dangerous where it matters. TEXAS STORM (7) is capable but faces a tricky draw and needs a touch of luck. SOME LINE (4) has come back well and is a versatile type, expect him to stick on well. KEAYANG SIMBA (5) was a better effort last run and can improve to novelty standards here with COCOBOLO (9) and FIRTH OF CLYDE (10) and RAVENOUS (3) is capable but faces plenty of speed drawn underneath. Tips: 8 7 4 5 Suggested Bet: MY MACHANE (8) to win. Race 2 TIGER LOU (1) won well at Kellerberrin and is a good front running type with her last two wins being from the role as pacemaker, rises in grade but can handle that and should go well. EYE BETTER (6) has been showing glimpses of her better form recently and expecting her to go well here. DISPATCHER (2) drops back to country grade and can’t burn the candle at both ends at this distance. MISS KNOWALL (9) is a better on speed type but drops in grade and should run home well with novelty chances to BOLD JACKIE (4) and STIRUP IRON JACK (10). Tips: 1 6 9 2 Suggested Bet: TIGER LOU (1) to win. Race 3 MAJOR BUZZ (9) won well in his first run for Michael Young, no reason he can’t sweep over the top of these again and get the job done, has good closing speed and the field seems open which will suit him nicely. MUMMAS LITTLE STAR (1) has the draw to settle close enough and can take cover and be handy and a chance to earn. EASTON QUALITY (4) has lifted in recent runs, but the middle distance is a concern, could use her early speed to try and lead. GOODONYA MATE (6) likely gets back and runs home but is a novelty chance with the stablemate STARANNA (7) who is ideally drawn to get into a top 4 spot. METEOROID (10) and JOE WITH THE FLOW (8) both first up but best is capable. Tips: 9 4 1 7 Suggested Bet: MAJOR BUZZ (9) to win. Race 4 Plenty of chances here. TAXI IT IS (5) has put in two decent efforts where she has had to be on speed in quick lead times or last start breezing, will likely have to do the work here but expecting a bold showing from her. MACH FREEWAY (1) has been in the wilderness recently, has the nice draw to improve and returns to Michael Young. KINSAABI (2) gate speed is hit and miss, racing well enough to feature. ZLATO (4) has been racing well, unlikely to find the top in this and makes life a bit more challenging. GOGGINS (7) will hope the pole marker holds up and should improve based off a drop in grade, loves the pegs and could be dangerous. HEAVY METAL HAMMER (8) has shown he is competitive at this level. AMERICAN MONARCH (9) will be running on well and RONA MAY (10) ate them alive when she saw the gaps last run, tougher draw but hard to dispute the strength of the victory. Tips: 5 10 7 1 Suggested Bet: TAXI IT IS (5) each way. Race 5 LUVBITE (12) faces the 50m handicap but is absolutely flying, last run was outstanding and seems to be stepping safely even more so by his lonesome off the back mark, could be plenty happening and his versatility can get him home here. OUR VINNIE (11) looks a strong chance, he has strings to his bow based off recent form and think he will be driven positively. STORMY VISTA (9) fell in with the victory last time out, he’s a tricky horse to work out because the times weren’t anything to get excited about, but he has the will to fend off so many challengers when he leads, will be driven to try and lead again. TWOBOB CRACKER (4) must be considered in your novelties and Quaddie’s, he is a genuine knockout chance, has done it before and is going well enough to do it again. BLAMEITONTHENIGHT (7) is a novelty chance. Tips: 12 11 9 4 Suggested Bet: LUVBITE (12) to win. Race 6 ALWAYS CHANGIN (10) won well on return and is a nice type, should bounce off that run well and think he’ll win his fair share this time in, hard to beat. DARE TO LIE (2) is a rocky type but has some ability and could settle close to the speed on return. GAMETIME (8) won in moderate time last run but won well and controlled the race, improves every time he steps out there. REDDY TO FLY (9) was a good run last start, I swore he would never been in my good books again but here we are; he will run on well. LEEROY ROX (5), DANGER (6) both novelty chances. Tips: 10 2 8 9 Suggested Bet: ALWAYS CHANGIN (10) to win. Race 7 CAMEL PLUS (2) was beaten at $1.07 last start, and was beaten by On Golden Road who was up to that point 103 starts without a win, hard to get swept up in backing CAMEL PLUS (2) based off burning the punters last time out but, he fought it out to the line well late and still looks green, massive chance to right his previous wrong here. CHEVRONS GOLD (6) racing well enough to be dangerous in this race, they’ve called in the big guns to try and break the maiden status. PAPPINBARRA LADY (10) faces a difficult draw but was luckless Tuesday and form has been consistent. LADY AQUILA (1) and ELBRUJA (4) are both improving and can feature in the money in this. PURELY PANDEMIC (3) is a novelty chance. Tips: 2 6 1 10 Suggested Bet: LADY AQUILA (1) to place. Market Market
