Chris Nelson’s Saturday Randwick Preview Posted on June 18, 2026June 18, 2026 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 We race at Randwick on Saturday where I’m expecting the track to be close to, or if not, in the good range. We get things underway with a 1200m Highway where (4) CHAINS OF LOVE is the top tip. Only lightly raced he’s got a ton of upside & certainly looked the goods winning on his home track at Scone during the recent carnival. Out of the money last start that was in Listed company at Eagle Farm & the margin less than 2 lengths, up in weight however well down in grade. Matt Dunn has a second to none record in these races, he sends around the lightly raced (8) TOO HOT TO TORQUE who has won his past couple, definitely harder here however he wouldn’t be in the race if connections didn’t think he could measure up. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 1 – 13 Suggested Bet: CHAINS OF LOVE TO WIN. RACE 2 This week’s Midway looks a perfect race for the third-up (8) PERFECT JUSTICE who has finished off both races this prep in strong fashion. With the claim once again for Sienna Grima plus an additional 100m he gets his chance to break through. (18) UP TO MISCHIEF was solid in a recent Canterbury midweeker, suggest the slightly longer trip suits & is worth including at a price. (6) HEREWARD also aided by a claim can figure in the placings. Numbers: 8 – 18 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet: PERFECT JUSTICE TO WIN. RACE 3 Peter Snowden trained (4) NITRO hasn’t done punters any favours at his two runs this time in having been beaten at Scone when missing the start before racing wide here a couple of weeks back. Up to the 1600m is a complete unknown & I’m not keen to take any short odds however should he run it out ok he again goes very close to winning. (13) LIPSTICK gets into the race with a very light weight (52kg) & looks to be building to a win, won’t spent a penny from the gate in the run however may need luck finding a gap in the straight. No knock (5) BIRD WHISTLE who will race on speed from the good draw. Numbers: 4 – 13 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 4 Solid looking race for the 3yo’s. (5) SHADY ROAD will go around at good odds here, possibly overs? She placed at Scone two back in Listed company before giving away too much start (wide gate) at Eagle Farm last start before making ground in the run to the line. Aided by the claim she does look well placed back to an easier race. (1) HELLO CAPTAIN was beaten on debut however since then has racked up 3 consecutive wins, lumped the 62kg to get it done last start gets a little weight relief here. No knock (7) FRONT RANK who bolted in on debut at Canterbury on heavy (8) ground with 59kg, looks highly likely to handle the rise in grade. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet: SHADY ROAD EACH-WAY. RACE 5 Keep coming back to (5) NASEBAH who although out of the placings last start didn’t have the best of luck & was coming back 200m. Ideally she looked better suited rising in trip however that wasn’t the case & she didn’t get the clearest of runs before making late ground, certainly a run which suggested she wants the additional 200m she gets here. (1) BRAVISSIMA finished strongly to win that race, 1800m a definite query however can’t knock them when they haven’t been over it. (3) SHANGRI LA IMPACT rounds out the main hopes, needs to improve on the last start failure & certainly has the ability to do so. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet: NASEBAH TO WIN. RACE 6 Open looking race over the 1800m where I’ll lean to (12) SIR DINADAN however not with a great deal of confidence. Back & wide at Gosford two back he found the line well however just didn’t appreciate the heavy ground his next run coupled with 62kg. 6kg lighter in weight & with a drier deck to work on here he should improve plenty. (14) SOUNDS UNUSUAL is very consistent & comes off a last start win, right distance, right gate & right jockey! (9) TAZIMA is also racing very consistently, claim a big positive & freshened up for the drop back in trip. Numbers: 12 – 14 – 9 – 17 Suggested Bet: SIR DINADAN EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 7 First up winner (2) ICE KOOL is down to run here & also at Flemington, as I type no decision has been made as to which venue he’ll turn up at. He clearly gets the nod should it be here off a super impressive first up win when showing a neat turn of foot to clear out from his rivals & win with gas in the tank. (3) BIG RED TQUILA chased him home on that occasion & does meet him 3kg better at the weights for the 2.3L margin, doubt the tables will be turned however the margin may be less. (7) PETTICOAT has good ability, pulled up with issues last start (cough) & can bounce back here on a track she holds a good record at. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet: ICE KOOL TO WIN/BIG RED TEQUILA TO WIN if no Ice Kool. RACE 8 (2) BUSTLING was once an Everest hope as he showed a ton of potential when a 2yo in Perth winning a Karrakatta & Sires. Unfortunately he sustained an injury soon after & was off the scene for almost 2 years, both return runs have been good down south, he should be primed third up & he’s much better placed on the drier surface here. (16) AMAZING EAGLE can be hard to catch having only won the single race, good resuming he didn’t have the best of luck second-up & does drop 9kg in weight off that run. (1) GOLDEN DECADE does most of his racing in Queensland, both runs this time in sound in Listed company he’s not without a chance. Numbers: 2 – 16 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 9 (12) MIDNIGHT DYNAMITE is in rare form this prep having won 2 of his 3 starts with a solid second here two weeks ago the only defeat. He drew wide on that occasion when just over a length from the winner however with a better gate today he can return to the winners list. I just cannot catch (3) GENERAL SALUTE however doubt am a loner, zoomed home fresh however that’s not uncommon for him, tends to find one better more often than not. Keeping the import (4) ZABIARI safe, trials sound & in good hands. Numbers: 12 – 3 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet: MIDNIGHT DYNAMITE TO WIN. RACE 10 I’m with (1) GLORIOUS MOMENTS in this closing race who can bounce back off a defeat here last start when going for four straight wins. Unfortunately for his supporters he was posted wide the entire trip with the big weight yet was only beaten just over a length. With better luck this time around he can make amends. (2) HEZDARNHOTTOO is in peak form & draws ideally to land a great run. (10) COLD BREW has to step it up from Midway grade however does strip fitter. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 10 – 21 Suggested Bet: GLORIOUS MOMENTS EACH-WAY. Market Market
