Scott Embry’s Monday Carnarvon Preview Posted on June 20, 2022June 20, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PEPPI GROVE looks one of 8 winning chances in probably the most open and even maiden we’ve seen so far this season at Carnarvon. New comer to the region, first start on the dirt and drawn wide but is race fit and can stay out of trouble. Did finished 2.4L off Reliable Choice and Very Secret one day and 2.5L off Midnight Mystery and Private Scene at Pinjarra. Not impossible. AMELIAS CHANT blundered the start and kicked through in her first dirt outing. Think she’ll be better for the experience. MAN FROM MEMPHIS is a long, long time maiden but this is winnable for him. SUPER BON finds the front and leads but is a query late at 1400. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – PEPPI GROVE EACHWAY RACE 2 SHAMARA was an outstanding win at her Carnarvon debut. She was tailed off at one stage and came to the extreme outside letting loose with a massive turn of acceleration to score. The race pattern is a query when drawn inside but if she can step better and stay out of trouble she might be capable of going through the grades. CYCLONICAL has her first tart for Ray Malpass. Her Great Southern C2 form is great for a race like this and she has speed. Broke her maiden in a 1000m scamper at Mt Barker leading throughout. Watch the market (but expect money). NORTHWOOD has been going along quite well since arriving in the region and coming back to 1200m looks more suitable. ILLMATIC ran well in a C3 fresh. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – SHAMARA WIN RACE 3 ARMED AND READY has been a tough horse to follow over his career. To see him jump last start was heart breaking to those aboard The Divine Wind but no doubt heart warming for Peta Edwards, Peter Daly and connections. When (if) he jumps he’s a genuine Cups type. When he doesn’t jump it’s rip up the ticket sort of stuff. If he jumps, he should win again. MYSTICAL MAN doesn’t leave the gates and takes a while to find his feet and muster. If they break the field open, he’ll again concede them a massive head start in running. CLASSIC JACK should be a nice horse for this grade of racing. Can roll forward too. MADRID CENTRO is not the same horse as 2 years ago but he’s going ok. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – ARMED AND READY WIN RACE 4 ART ADMIRER had his first start for Tony Scally at his 15th run of the preparation, first time on the dirt and proved that he’ll be a handy acquisition. Drops from a 56+ back into a C3 and for these horses who are new to dirt racing often drawn out is a blessing in disguise. He’s rock hard fit and he tries his guts out. NERO CHIN CHIN has come back bigger and better this preparation. A mile is probably as far as he wants and 61.5kg is a lot of weight but jeez he’s going well. EGG WHITE can come on quickly at his second start on the dirt. Think at some stage they’ll set him alight mid-race and he’ll pinch one. ALL THE JULZ is building. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – ART ADMIRER WIN RACE 5 WOODBUG is always popular in this preview. He’s a Carnarvon 1000m specialist and with the claim for Cassey Martinan he drops 2.5kg and stays in the same grade. Finished second to Cantcatchthis in a sprint run 4.5L faster than average and then second to Our Insider in a sprint run 2.5L faster than average. He’s ready the old boy and he always goes round eacwahy. HERITAGE SASH is first-up, no trial on the dirt. Made his WA debut in a 70+ when finishing third to Kenyluck. Keep very safe. VERDIGRAS was a popular favourite before being a late scratching at the most recent meeting. Looks a big player. PRINCE SAIYAN is never far from the action. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – WOODBUG EACHWAY RACE 6 REGAL CITY is an intriguing runner. Only 11 days ago he won the WA Day Cup at Northam over a mile in a 60+ race. He now finds himself joining arguably the premier yard in the region with Zach Tyler and drops into a 56+. He’s not an easy horse to ride but if he crosses and finds the front, he might just run them into the ground. Think he’ll be hit or miss. Prayers for hit. THE DIVINE WIND looked to have found his race last start and was duly $2.90 into $1.90. Armed and Ready didn’t read the script. Going well. CAPE SOUNION is knocking on the door and should win one soon. LICKETY SPLIT an improver. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – REGAL CITY WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,3,4 1,2,4 2,3,6,9 3,4,5 Market Market
