Michael McDermott’s Weekend Greyhound Preview

Mandurah Friday, 30th April 2021

Race 3 – No. 1  Glorious Gunn

Impressed on debut with an all the way effort over 520m at Cannington saluting in quick time. Drawn ideally for her first crack at Mandurah and can do it from go to whoa again.

Race 4 – No. 6  Rippin’ Memphis

Flying machine who’ll look to dominate her rivals from the front. Times at Cannington have been sensational against tougher line ups than this and is sure to make every post a winner in her 490m debut.

Race 8 – No. 2  Sir Monty

Will appreciate the return to an inside draw. Hasn’t been seen here since dominating a small but select line up which included Zack Monelli back in November last year but should be able to get the job done if he puts his best paw forward early.

Each Way:

Race 11 – No. 2  Dandalup Jett

Has been struggling to find his best since resuming, albeit with a few excuses. Will be relying on plenty to go his way but if he can get across the favourite in red PLANET OX early and he happens to find trouble as he did from this same draw last week then he is more than capable of causing a massive upset.

Quaddie (Race 5 to 8):

3.5.7.8 / 4.5.7.8 / 2.3.8 / 2.6.8 $50 for 34.72%

Race 5 – No. 1  Barefoot Tycoon

Ran on strongly late after suffering plenty of early interference when dropping back to this trip last week. Will appreciate the improved draw and can go one better with clear running this time around.

Race 10 – No. 2  Kilkenny Monelli

Ate up the ground late on resumption when beaten a length in slick time from a poor draw. Fitter for the run and should find this line up more to his liking. Looks too good for these.

Race 12 – No. 5  Sam Malone

Has started odds-on in seven of ten career starts to date, missing the placings just the once. A long way down in distance but has trialled recently over this trip in solid time and will have benefited from the look at the track. Should have his supporters shouting Cheers as he crosses the line first.

Each Way:

Race 2 – No. 6  What’s Up Marty

Strong finisher who looks as though he will relish the step up to the middle distance. Bumps into a few handy times for his first crack but still should be able to hold his own. Look for him late finishing with a powerful burst.

Quaddie (Race 5 to 8):

1.2.4 / 1.3.4 / 1.2 / 2.5.6 $50 for 92.59%

Trifecta – Race 10

2 / 7 / 1.8 $2 for 100%

First Four – Race 5

1.2.4 / 1.2.4 / 1.2.4.5.6.7.8 / 1.2.4.5.6.7.8 $50 for 44.64%

Race 7 – No. 5  Shaka Rock

Her form here over the 405m was strong prior to a luckless 2nd last start at headquarters. Can handle the draw and should prove too slick for these.

Race 8 – No. 1  Minnie’s Monelli

Roared away to salute by over 4 lengths once clear on Wednesday over 380m at Cannington from a similar draw. Unbeaten in this rug and only needs to hold out her main danger and brother Phantom Monelli to continue on her winning ways.

Race 10 – No. 4  Overbite

Modest away but has really finished solidly for narrow seconds since returning to the trip at her past couple, both against stronger opposition. Will find this more to her liking and only needs to get the start right to top the podium this time around.
