Matt Young’s Tuesday Gloucester Park Preview

Race 1

DARE TO LIE (3) is knocking on the door and comes up with the decent draw, she can be a little bit hit and miss with her gait but has been doing things correctly as of late and looks suited here, hard to beat. WESMEDAD (1) is a moderate beginner but it’s not a scintillating front line and this could see here nearly lead and she could roll along and run well. HURRICANEHOPE (5) is knocking on the door, but the draw is awkward for her, requiring some luck. PHILTHEJUG (6) and BEALAWYER (8) need some tempo on to improve their chances. SLEEK AND SWEET (10) nicely drawn and first up for Donald Harper comes in with novelty claims with FUEGO CRUZADO (11).

Suggested Bet: DARE TO LIE (3) to win.

Race 2

PINJARRA ROCKS (9) was coming into his own nicely before having to go for an extended break, gets in well to this race on return and looks hard to hold out even from the wide barrier. LETS RATTLNROLL (4) has come back soundly and has options from the draw but should settle in the first few. BONPOPPY (1) was a good win last start when burning the candle at both ends, rises in distance but has the good draw to give her options. SPLASH OF CASH (3) has shown promise and must be respected on return. WICKED LOVER (7) has ability. FILLMYPOCKET (10) was solid on return but has had a few weeks between runs, looks a novelty chance and will be running home with other outside chances to TRUNKEY MON STAR (8) and LUCK FROM ABOVE (11).

Suggested Bet: PINJARRA ROCKS (9) to win.

Race 3

DOUGS LEGACY (1) gets the good draw and looks the likely leader, form has been sound as of late and looks set to run a good race and be hard to run down. ICY COLD (9) is better suited at the shorter distances but from the draw the middle distance will help her track into it late, her high speed will be required. HALFMOONBAY (11) is capable and should take benefit from the last run. VYBRANT (2) is drawn to be close enough with MONEY WELL SPENT (10) and AMERICAN MONARCH (12) will be running on well now with a few runs under her belt.

Suggested Bet: DOUGS LEGACY (1) to win.

Race 4

HEAVY METAL HAMMER (5) is knocking on the door to run a big race, class looks suitable and can be versatile in this grade, major player. BETTOR CLASS (1) trialled well and has the nice draw, should improve off this run again but looks set to run a bold race. JIMMY ROCKS (6) is improving with every run, will likely head forward and race on pace and will be in the thick of it. FLYING RUMOUR (10) could improve given the drop in grade and draw. LENORA JANE (11) and TOMMY PRICE (12) will both be running on and just need some tempo on.

Tips: 5 1 6 10

Suggested Bet: HEAVY METAL HAMMER (5) to win.

Race 5

Open race. CHIEF COPY (2) will be looking for the top and likes to roll along, think his form is better than it reads and has been racing well even from the breeze. JOE WITH THE FLOW (1) likes to race on speed and has options from the draw. GALVINSTON JOHN (3) is preferred at a shorter trip and doesn’t look likely to lead this. CLOUD NINE (12) has been racing stronger and will be running on well. GOTA GOOD WARHOL (11) is racing well and will get a nice run; he looks a decent chance. CLASSNSMART (4) is racing soundly and can-do work in his races. BARBADOS (6) has improved recently but needs luck from the draw and IN MY OWN TIME (10) is capable but can be a menace going up to the gate.

Suggested Bet: CHIEF COPY (2) each way.

Race 6 (Best Bet)

KEEGAN BANNER (3) put in a solid performance last start and looks ready to run a big race, class suits and fitness should be spot on, very hard to beat in this. ON THE BACK FOOT (7) has been racing collectively stronger fields than most and the distance will suit his style, will be running on nicely. RAMBO RABBIT (8) will be about the place, always a novelty chance with consideration to the returning STRIKING A DEAL (1) and RUN BOB RUN (2) who was a recent winner and the distance is a significant query for me.

Suggested Bet: KEEGAN BANNER (3) to win.

Race 7

METEOROID (12) caught my eye last run and after a few runs in the wilderness he looked to hit the line better last start, it’s an open race so you’d like an each way price about him but I think he’s heading in the right direction. VICIOUSLY UNKIND (3) led a race of this nature and was run down, consistent and can be thereabouts again but hard to get too confident after that defeat. IDEAL WHITBY (6) was a winner on Friday by a big space, can be driven positively here and go well. ASHBY (5) has the speed to nearly cross and could improve but needs too on recent runs. IM GRAFTER (7) caught the eye in his return run but it’s a horror draw for him. SPINNER OF YARNS (11) not the worst.

Tips: 12 6 3 11

Suggested Bet: METEOROID (12) each way

Race 8

RUSHIE (5) should win and do so in comfortable fashion, could open a ridiculous quote in this for a debutant but should probably win. THUNDER WARRIOR (1) is ideally drawn and has the speed to lead early and looks a top 2 player. JUST A PONY (2) was a noted improver last run and nicely drawn, needs to do it correctly which has been a significant problem in the past. MISTER ANDERSON (4) has shown promise but also was on his worst behaviour in a recent trial. Others look tested.

Suggested Bet: RUSHIE/THUNDER WARRIOR to Exacta.
