Matt Young’s Friday Northam Preview Posted on June 13, 2025June 13, 2025 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 OFFICIAL ROCK (6) drops in grade on recent efforts and looks hard to beat, it is a tricky draw, and you wouldn’t want to dive in too short, but she seems to have versatility but mostly will have to rely on high speed from the draw. HEAD OFFICE (5) is improving and has been racing some stronger opposition, can improve in this. POPPYS LAST DANCE (10) was solid two starts ago before doing things wrong, draw could work better for her as she won’t have to be bustled early. THREE FLAMES (3) improved from the trial into a race and can continue that improvement, must be respected with the draw advantage. ELBRUJA (4) has shown glimpses, is next best. Tips: 6 10 5 3 Suggested Bet: OFFICIAL ROCK (6) to win. Race 2 INTO THE FUTURE (6) has been racing in top form, this draw should see him be able to use his gate speed and he should nearly dash to the top and from the leading role, I think he will win this. BY ROYAL COMMAND (9) hasn’t had things his own way recently, did beat the on top selection 3 starts ago and will have to race in a similar sit sprint capacity. CAPTAIN SAID SO (10) is dropping down from stronger grade, he seems to be more of a sit sprint type but may be able to be used at some stage in this. DUNCAN TWENTYTWO (7) has shown promise but a tricky little draw to work with, will be getting home well. DO IT MY WAY (8) next best. Tips: 6 10 9 7 Suggested Bet: INTO THE FUTURE (6) to win. Race 3 WRITTENINTHESKY (2) has the gate speed to lead here, has options from the draw but wanted to fire up two starts ago and should find a soft lead and if he can settle, I think we will see the best version of this horse. SUNDANCER RAINBOW (4) is racing strongly but is a sit kick type and can’t be driven in a tough manner, same can be said for KEPTAIN COURAGEOUS (8) who is also racing well, therefore there might not be much pressure up front. BAZZA MAC (5) and DON’T GOIN THEWATER (6) can both do some work but nothing over the top and their draws hurt their chances. FRANKENSTEINSBRIDE (1) is a place chance and GOTA GOOD WARHOL (7) can win but just needs some luck from the draw, expect him to be running on strongly. Tips: 2 4 8 7 Suggested Bet: WRITTENINTHESKY (2) each way. Race 4 GET YA BETS ON (10) has been mixing his form as of late but also bumps into probably the most winnable race he has had this preparation, can do some work and looks hard to beat. CRY HAVOC (9) is showing signs of running a big race but has been driven more sit kick this time in. GOODONYA MATE (8) isn’t one to do much work in the run but will be getting home well. The Reeves contingent likely to be led up by DEE JAYS BIG BOY (2) he is capable of a forward showing, I do think TEMPT THE STARS (5) could run a race at odds, but the draw makes it a bit more challenging for him. WELLOILED (1) and CODENAME ELLIOT (3) are both novelty chances and happy to look at EILEENMAY (4) at this early stage in the prep. Tips: 10 9 5 8 Suggested Bet: TEMPT THE STARS (5) each way. Race 5 DEL BOCAVISTA BAY (3) gets a draw he can be driven assertively in, looks a big chance to run to the lead and give them something to catch. ONESMARTFELLA (9) drops in grade and was a strong performance last time out, likely be very dangerous in the final circuit. ALTA FREEWAY (10) has been racing well but the draw will rely on his speed late. RECOVER LOVER (1) ideally drawn, can get into the placings and if the pace suits, could be dangerous late via the sprint lane. THE BEACH MASTER (5) trialled well and has good ability, tricky draw on return but must be respected. BRULEE (8) will be running on, has improved recently. Novelty hopes at odds to YOUR GRACE (7) and MISTER KOPA (4) both are running well enough to sneak into the top 4. Tips: 3 9 10 8 Suggested Bet: DEL BOCAVISTA BAY (3) each way. Race 6 SUN AND SAND (1) has the draw and raced well last time out, can get keen in races but looks a suitable assignment and has options from the draw. DANNIKA (3) was a better run last time out and can continue that improvement, keep her safe. VELVET SHADOW (6) is racing well but this draw makes life a bit harder. SAVE THIS DANCE (10) is a strong place to novelty chance, he has been racing in consistent form. TWOHEARTONEDIAMOND (7) raises out of maiden grade and has come up quite short tonight, risky. HOT CINDER (8) prefer on speed, draw hurts a bit. SHADRACH (4) a novelty chance. Tips: 1 3 10 6 Suggested Bet: SUN AND SAND (1) to win. Race 7 SHES A MARE (5) has got superb closing speed, and this small field looks to suit her down to the ground, she is a very quick beginner if they choose that option but normally if they do that it detracts from her finishing burst, think they’ll play conservative and hope the small field is enough for her to gather them in. AMERICAN MONARCH (6) also has the fitness on her side and like her stablemate, will be running on strongly. JOLTED CHARM (3) returns and is very capable, she is the likely leader and will give them something to catch. BATAVIA STREAMLINE (1) and MUMMAS LITTLE STAR (2) both racing well enough to get into the novelties. MISS KNOWALL (7) will follow the pegs but prior to her last win against easier, she was only just racing soundly prior. Tips: 5 6 3 1 Suggested Bet: SHES A MARE (5) to win. Market Market
