Hall’s Not Forgotten In Boulder Cup Posted on September 15, 2017 | Posted by Julio Santarelli Jockey Peter Hall and trainer Adam Durrant are poised to enhance their Boulder Cup (2100m) record when they combine with The Forgotten One in the $100,000 Listed feature at Kalgoorlie on Sunday. Hall is out to claim his fifth Boulder Cup victory and third in partnership with Durrant after they combined with top bay gelding Reverend Lovejoy in 2009 and 2011. Hall believes The Forgotten One has the right credentials to win the Boulder Cup and is confident the son of Blackfriars will be competitive in an open race. Hall jumps aboard the gelding and rides him for the first time after he ran sixth to Kalgoorlie Cup fancy, Danehills Daughter, last-start at Belmont. He was beaten four lengths, but the margin could have been closer if he wasn’t impeded or crowded for racing room half way down the straight. It followed a gutsy 2100m staying win at Belmont over Boulder Cup rival, Shinta Mani, when he dug deep along the fence to score by a neck. The Forgotten One warmed up for the Boulder Cup by winning a soft 1450m trial on Monday, going to the line untouched from near last. Durrant’s decision to give the six-year-old a final hit out copies the exact preparation he employed with Reverend Lovejoy in 2009 and 2011. Hall said The Forgotten One is an excellent pick up ride. “You can’t go wrong when you pick up a ride for one of the leading trainers,” Hall said. “The Forgotten One has drawn perfectly, has run the distance and will be rock hard fit. “He is no superstar, but this a pretty even field with many chances. “I’m definitely happy to be riding him and he ticks all the right boxes.” The Forgotten One, who has drawn barrier three, is quoted at $6 with the TAB. Shinta Mani is the $4.60 favourite.
