Euro 2016 Semi Final – Germany v France Posted on July 5, 2016July 5, 2016 | Posted by Sportsbettingmax.com The Stade Velodrome, Marseille, – Friday 8th July, 3AM AWST Recent Form Germany 1 v Italy 1 (Germany 6-5 penalties) France 5 v Iceland 2 Head to head France 12 – Germany 10 – Drawn 5 Recent match 2015 International Friendly-France 2 v Germany 0 Match Overview Germany are in trouble with injuries and suspensions. They lose Mats Hummels through suspension and Mario Gomez will miss the rest of the tournament through injury. There are also doubts on Schweinsteiger and Khedira who both received heavy knocks in the Italy match. It is a direct contrast for France who will have suspended pair Rami and Kante back in the team after they missed the Iceland win. The highly rated French attack hit form against Iceland with five goals, which takes their total for the Tournament to eleven (the most of any team). They have only conceded four. The German attack hasn’t been firing in the same way, they have scored seven but only conceded one. Griezmann (4), Payet and Giroud (3) lead the individual goal scorers but will need to be at their best to score against the tight German defense. For Germany the loss of Hummels (defender) is huge, as he is a is also one of there best distributors of the ball with a passing efficiency of 94%. An organised defense will be needed to stifle this star-studded French attack. But the loss of Mario Gomez is going to be too much to overcome. He leads the German scorers with two goals for the Tournament and with Muller yet to hit the score sheets the pressure on him to score will be massive. This is set up for France to progress to the Final. Germany have struggled to find their best form in the Tournament, whereas France have been bubbling along nicely and finally connected against Iceland. It will pay to wait and see the final team sheet because if either Schweinsteiger or Khedira are out, France’s chances greatly increase. Germany will play the game ultra-tight defensively and try to take it to penalties but France will have too much firepower for them. France to win 2-0. Player Watch I have been with Dimitri Payet from the off and will not be swaying now. He has scored three goals for the Tournament and has consistently looked the danger man.
