Chris Nelson’s Best Bets for Doomben – 19 March Posted on March 18, 2016 | Posted by Chris Nelson Chris Nelson’s Preview RACE 3 No.2 L’entrecote Long time since this one from the Kelly Schweida stable has saluted first (595 days to be precise) however he looks very close and strikes a very winnable race tomorrow. His last three starts around the 1350-1400m distance range have all been solid finishing efforts, he steps to the mile tomorrow which is exactly what he’s looking for. Drawn the inside gate for Damian Browne he won’t get a better opportunity to break back into the winners circle. RACE 7 No.5 Lauterbrunnen Robert Heathcote trained galloper who put the writing on the wall last start running on strongly to beat all bar the winner Heart Of A Warrior here over this trip. He’ll be peaking tomorrow at his 4th run back from a break and meets Heart Of A Warrior 4.5kg better off at the weights for only a half-length defeat! Should be winning. RACE 8 No.2 Quick Ketch Very promising 3yo who impressed at his first two starts on the provincial circuit before being brought to town. He’s won two races here this campaign and although disappointing on face value when unplaced here a month ago was a noted drifter suggesting he wasn’t quite right. Freshened up tomorrow he’ll park off the speed and come with a big finish late. Great each-way value.
