Deane Lester’s Moonee Valley Best Bets Posted on July 31, 2020 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 6 NO.10 WILMOT PASS WILMOT PASS is a progressive type from the newly formed training partnership of Anthony and Sam Freedman that can continue on his winning way when he contests the Benchmark 84 Handicap (1200m). The four year old recorded his third win from 8 starts when proving too strong over 1200 metres at Flemington on July 18. Top rider Jamie Kah has only had two rides aboard the son of Rubick for two wins so they are building a fine association. This is an ideal race for a developing horse and WILMOT PASS fits that profile nicely; sure to run well again. RACE 7 NO.7 POLLY GREY POLLY GREY is working up to winning form and gets her chance to record her 7th career victory when she tackles the Open Handicap (2040m). The former Kiwi mare has had three runs for the Chris Waller stable and has impressed on each occasion, most recently when finishing a luckless 5th behind CREEDENCE over 2000 metres at Flemington on July 18. She has now had the benefit of a run at this distance, gets the services of champion international rider Damian Lane and appears ready to peak for this race. On a even program that sees some short priced favourites, POLLY GREY represents the best bet of the day at a reasonable price. RACE 8 NO.12 SUKOOT SUKOOT represents the value bet of the day when he runs in the Benchmark 78 Handicap (1500m). The six year old has been freshened after a fruitful early winter campaign which saw him record a win and a placing from three outings. He seems to race best when fresh and the likelihood of a drying track only enhances his prospects. Champion rider Damien Oliver takes the ride aboard SUKOOT who should be finishing strongly in this race and appeals as a good each way gamble. Market Market
