Deane Lester’s Flemington Best Bets Posted on October 2, 2020October 2, 2020 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 2 NO.8 SEPTEMBER RUN Sydney filly SEPTEMBER RUN created a favourable impression when making her Victorian debut and looks a strong winning chance again when she contests the Poseidon Stakes (1100m). The Chris Waller trained galloper returned brilliant sectionals in winning the Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1100m) at Flemington on September 12 and showed that she is very comfortable racing down the Flemington straight course. In that victory she defeated SWATS THAT who went on to win last week’s Scarborough Stakes (1200m) at the Valley which only enhances this formline. She now takes on the males in this race but drops 1.5kg and appears ideally drawn to win again. RACE 5 NO.11 MISS GUGGENHEIM The Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) for three year old fillies is a field comprised of lightly raced progressive types and MISS GUGGENHEIM looks the ideal filly to make the leap from maiden class to winning at Group 2 level. The daughter of Dundeel produced a brilliant finishing burst to win first-up over 1300 metres at Geelong on September 6. In that win, she defeated PENSATO and STAR OF EDEN who then went on to run first and third respectively in the Oaks Trial (1800m) at Flemington on September 23. She looks drawn for a great run, champion rider Damien Oliver takes the ride and MISS GUGGENHEIM appeals as the value bet of the day. RACE 8 NO.5 MADAM ROUGE The Rose Of Kingston Stakes (1400m) is a quality race for the mares and MADAM ROUGE is poised to return to the winners list following two runs back from a spell. The five year old was desperately unlucky when finishing 6th behind PERFECT JEWEL in the Cockram Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on August 29. She then drew the outside barrier and was forced to the back of the field but ran on resolutely to finish 7th behind BEHEMOTH in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 19. She looks to be in peak form and finally gets a decent barrier draw in an ideal class of race for her. Jockey Ben Melham is riding in career best form and can guide MADAM ROUGE to her 6th career victory. Market Market
