Michael Heaton’s Friday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on April 2, 2026April 2, 2026 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 BUON AMICI joins Brett Drury’s yard and brings superior formlines to his rivals. He placed to smart juveniles Brazen Butcher and Deltason as a 2YO and was <4L off horses such as Buthelezi and Masmelo at Ascot first up last prep. Hard to beat. LANTA is a lightly-raced 4YO who ran a solid fifth in a Bendigo Maiden at his only career start to date and can park just off the speed. CLASSIC POETRY hasn’t shown a great deal to date but will find this easier than recent assignments and can roll forward. ROYAL GUARDIAN resumes and should be doing her best work late. Numbers: 4-2-7-9 Suggested Bet – BUON AMICI WIN RACE 2 PRAWNS ELEVEN comes from a high-rating 66+ at Ascot where he set a hot tempo and finished 5L off the exciting Malletier which reads up very well for this drop in grade. He’s 2 from 2 at the Kalgoorlie 1100m circuit, has the benefit of race fitness on his main dangers and should be very hard to beat. TWIST OF GOLD typically improves into her campaigns but she’s missed the money only once from her past 10 starts and can track Prawns Eleven throughout running. TREASURED QUEEN is another consistent type resuming and hasn’t missed the top 2 from 6 starts at this track/distance. SCIENCE DEGREE won first up at last year’s opening meeting but has led at his last 3 wins and that looks unlikely here. Numbers: 1-7-2-4 Suggested Bet – PRAWNS ELEVEN WIN RACE 3 NISTIRITH is 37 days between runs but ran 1L second to Slip The Jab (subsequent winner and Saturday placegetter) at Belmont last start, beating home Mandible Magic (subsequent Ascot winner) and Roaming America (subsequent Ascot AND Pinjarra winner) in the process. Should be leading and winning. SPLANGLEDSTAR is an 18-start maiden but will find this easier than Ascot/Pinjarra/Bunbury and she ran a ripper first up at Pinjarra last preparation. DEEPLY ROOTED also resumes and wasn’t disgraced in better races in his debut campaign. COCOBELLE has a tough draw and map to overcome but ran (4L) fourth to Just Walter John on debut and sneaks into this with only 52.5kg. Numbers: 9-6-4-10 Suggested Bet – NISTIRITH WIN RACE 4 CHIPPILY resumes at a distance short of her best but she goes best on rain-affected tracks and will appreciate the sting out of the ground. She was a bit unlucky not to win one in her first prep under the care of Peter Fernie last season and she has tactical versatility which gives Tash Faithfull some options. Stablemate SLIPPERY FISH won well as a 4YO on debut at the final meeting last season and looks a type who could progress through the grades this time in. DIAMOND LIGHT has had a couple of false starts with late scratchings in her return from a 14-month layoff recently but trialled up well and looks the likely leader. WRITTEN SIN is a race-fit horse who turned the corner late in the Esperance season. Numbers: 7-3-6-4 Suggested Bet – CHIPILLY WIN RACE 5 GIBRALTAR GOLD won first up last campaign but her best 2 performances of her preparation came on rain-affected tracks so she’ll appreciate the sting out of the ground. She’ll likely need luck in running with her off-speed racing style but she should still be hard to hold out late. WHATYOUTALKINBOUT showed enough in his debut campaign late last season and can roll to the top to control proceedings so he’ll have the tactical advantage. BONDI’S SON has only been going fairly but he’s race fit and now returns to Kalgoorlie where he did his best work last year. MYSTICAL WISDOM isn’t the safest of beginners and end up a fair way back but his SA form and last start at Kalgoorlie suggest he can win some races here. Numbers: 1-2-6-4 Suggested Bet – GIBRALTAR GOLD WIN RACE 6 MARINES CRY is only coming out of York racing but she’s won emphatically at her first 2 starts for Brock Lewthwaite and placed in Westspeed Platinum grade at Ascot prior to that so she has upside. She should bounce straight to the top and prove hard to run down. IMAPAGREETHREE GIRL has been freshened and caught the eye late in her recent mid-prep trial. She can park up just off the speed and gets a 2kg weight swing on Marines Cry from their last encounter. ON JUST TERMS resumes and is a consistent mare but she’ll likely have to burn hard to try cross to the breeze from her outside draw. PLEASE MIZTER is a nice type but isn’t a fresh horse and is better suited over further. Numbers: 2-7-4-1 Suggested Bet – MARINES CRY WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,6 2,3,4,5,6,7 1,2,6 2,4,7 108 combinations Market Market
