Matt Young’s Friday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on April 2, 2026April 2, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 TRIXIE DORA (1) has returned well and has the lovely draw, her performances this time in have been good from challenging draws and think she has proven she can win against nice types and this is a good test. MY MACHANE (10) will need an element of luck from the draw but wasn’t disgraced on return, should run a big race here with any sort of daylight. IM CATEGORY FIVE (3) is his stablemate and returned with a down the track effort, happy to look beyond that as it was a wet night and had a horror draw, she will run better here. IN RARE AIR (4) still learning the caper but has ability after beating BETTOR BEHAVE (8) and CEASE TO REACT (9) who are both drawn nearly out of this. MATERNAL DREAMS (5) going well but looks more of a novelty chance from the draw. Tips: 1 10 3 4 Suggested Bet: TRIXIE DORA (1) to win. Race 2 Open race. FRANCO MECCA (1) is going well enough to try and lead and give them something to catch, he will need a little bit of control on his side but will give a kick when required. ROX THE WORLD (8) returned with a bold run off the back of a solid trial and Gary Hall Jnr goes aboard, think he is getting stronger with age so could be put into it and run well. SUGAR SHAKE (9) ready to break through but likely to do the work again in this. THE BETTOR SIDE (12) is always a top 3 chance, he will be slightly forgotten and that could play to his advantage, but as we know, he doesn’t win out of turn. Novelty chances to CEE DEE THREE (3), ALLWOOD MACH (4) and IM ROCKIN ROD (10) from the nice draw. Tips: 8 9 1 12 Suggested Bet: ROX THE WORLD (8) to win. Race 3 RAKLOU (1) returns from the good draw and is a natural front running type, looks the likely leader and hard to see them getting around the robust mare. CAPTAINSHAVTIME (11) returns and has always shown above average ability and must be respected in her comeback run. FINAL COLLECT (12) has been racing against strong opposition and could run well here. BURGHLEY SHARD (10) is a novelty chance by virtue of the draw and BLUE BLAZER (2) who is racing well will be gunning for that spot behind the leader. CAPTAIN BLIGH (8) and WHATARETHEODDS (9) capable with the former yet to strike since returning. Tips: 1 11 12 10 Suggested Bet: RAKLOU (1) to win. Race 4 SWEET PINS (1) has the benefit of a solid trial and a first effort against some strong types, he has shown speed before and Gary Hall Jnr is a hard man to get around at the start, looks hard to beat. BETTORS PRIDE (4) is a very quick beginner and likely to have a solid look in his return run, gave them something to chase in the Golden Nugget when led last season, keep safe. LINCOLN RIVER (10) ideally drawn to be driven to his strength, his speed, winning chance with even luck. MINOS (6) didn’t have the rub of the green last time out and still hit the line well, looks a novelty chance with TIGER ROYAL (7), MASTER PUBLISHER (8) and ROCKANDROLLARTIST (9) who will appreciate not seeing Magnificent Storm and Minstrel as his direct opponents. Tips: 1 10 4 9 Suggested Bet: SWEET PINS (1) to win. Race 5 FRANCO MOTU (13) has just been named for the Nullarbor and was superb in his return run, he fronts up in a competitive Easter Cup and looks hard to hold out even off the 40m, faces a capacity field to overcome. LAST HARD COPY (9) was solid on return and can be driven to keep the advantage and expect him to run a big race. CHASE ME (12) trial was good and looked dangerous up until the turn and disappointed me late. ECLIPSE LINE (5) is a chance to run to the lead and could give them something to catch. MY SILVER SPOON (7) was solid last time out and will look to bounce to the top and get cover again and be a novelty chance. MEDIEVAL MAN (1) capable but is first up, novelty chance with MY COPY (3), SPYGLASS (10) and CAPTAIN RAVISHING (14). Wide comment but if LUVBITE (2) gained a start, they’d know he’s there after a good trial. Tips: 13 9 5 7 Suggested Bet: FRANCO MOTU/LAST HARD COPY to Quinella. Race 6 PENNY BLACK (11) is a star, no denying that but she could potentially have to run track record times to win this race off 70m, I am not saying she cannot win because she’s as tough a mare we’ve seen for a while but she could be vulnerable and likely to be short enough in the market. On her side is some of her main dangers are off the handicaps as well. XCEPTIONAL ARMA (10) is expected to improve in her third up run but will have to chase as well. VINITA ROSE (9) is racing well and will be looking to step and roll as she’s been doing in the mobiles. PAROQUET (8) is capable of a strong showing but can be hit and miss from the tapes. MINOR CATASTROPHE (3) going well enough to run into the top 4 as is JILL MACH (1) who has been placed in this race two times. STATE MY CASE (6) going well enough to feature and KINKY (7) concerns me in her first stand as she can be moody in mobiles. Tips: 11 9 10 3 Suggested Bet: VINITA ROSE (9) each way. Race 7 SPITFIRE (8) didn’t have much luck last time out off the better draw and although drawn wide, this looks to suit better and expect him to be driven like the best horse in the race and I think he can win. LINCOLN LOU (9) racing soundly but the draw is challenging, placed last start against some nice types. TROUBADOUR (4) has the draw advantage but hard to get a gauge on so far, won well first up and is a nice type, disappointed last start. HALE SAINT LOUIE (7) returned well and needs some luck from the draw but is versatile. ELWADDELL (5) is a novelty chance with JACKPOT JOE (1) who was sound on return. Tips: 8 4 9 7 Suggested Bet: SPITFIRE (8) to win. Race 8 A LITTLE SILENCE (7) has returned well, and he is likely to hold market percentage here, has had the race put on for him first up and then did a power of work to win second up, no denying he has good ability. I loved the trial of LUVBITE (6), he looks a cool dude with a fighting victory over Captain Ravishing in decent time and showed grit and high speed, expect him to go very close and test the likely favourite. TRUE GRIT (2) lived up to his name with a gutsy third last time out, respect him in this. ART IDEAL (5) will be pushing forward and can get keen but has been racing well. MISTER PICCOLO (8) a novelty chance as he will run on. Tips: 6 7 2 5 Suggested Bet: LUVBITE (6) to win. Market Market
