Michael Heaton’s Monday York Preview Posted on April 4, 2026April 4, 2026 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 SAUCISSON is a 21-start maiden but has been going quite well lately. He was a big run last start when 3 and 4-wide throughout but still fighting on and he was knocking on the door for an overdue win prior to that. Just needs some luck from another tough alley. Stablemate OBSCENTINO is a 24-start maiden but produced a career-best effort when beaten a head over 2000m at Pinjarra last start. OPAL NERO ran second in a 46+ at this track/distance last start and can punch forward. PRETEY ROYAL is another long-time maiden but she made good late ground last time out. Numbers: 2-1-7-6 Suggested Bet – SAUCISSON WIN RACE 2 QUEEN SELYSE hasn’t been far away this prep and now has bar plates coming off which is a big tick. She has the speed to roll forward from her awkward draw and is the one they’ll have to beat. I’LL KEEP HALF joins the yard of Michael Grantham and CJP makes the trip to York for only 1 ride. Big watch. GINGER TED has been going much better lately and looks ready to win one but he’ll need some luck from what looks a really tough map on paper. MAXINE’S WISH is a long-time maiden but she showed a return to form at the last York meeting. Numbers: 10-5-1-12 Suggested Bet – QUEEN SELYSE WIN RACE 3 SCREAM got the job done at his WA debut when winning at this track/distance last start. He drops 1.5kg from that effort, has won 3 of his 5 second-up starts and looks a chance of being able to cross to the lead. SUPERB VINTAGE has put together back-to-back smart wins at York where she showed a sharp turn of foot but she’s now 1300m back to 1100m and looks destined to settle either back or wide from the gate. ZAC LUVS TO FLY is a consistent type who is suited to this level and he can camp just off the speed. I’M EUGENE hasn’t won for nearly 4 years but was only beaten a head by Scream and meets him 1kg better off now. Numbers: 2-5-3-8 Suggested Bet – SCREAM WIN RACE 4 LINE OF THOUGHT resumes off the back of 2 trials where she didn’t wear blinkers in the first and then was beaten just over 2L in a hot field in the second. This might be a distance short of her best but she should land in a prominent position and gets in well after Natika Riordan’s claim. MISSILE GIRL makes her WA debut and brings handy and consistent provincial Victorian form. Should be a nice addition to Timo Pike’s north-west stable this season. PRETTY DEVINE has to lump 61.5kg but has raced in higher grade at her past 15 starts and she loves York. GET OUT MICK resumes and is a class dropper but he’s likely to get a long way back. Numbers: 5-3-1-9 Suggested Bet – LINE OF THOUGHT WIN RACE 5 MASAMUNE looks a class above his rivals here. Prior to his last start where he was beaten <3L by Urquharts Bluff, his previous 11 starts were in Saturday grade which includes form around some well-credentialled types. He gets into this country C5 event well with 60kg after Holly Nottle’s claim and should be hard to hold out. HE’S ARCHIE races first-up, no trial and ran third to Santanova (now a 72+ winner) first up last preparation. GOOD VIBES faces stronger opposition here but she’s a proven York performer and reunites with Natika Riordan who won aboard her first up. CHOIXWAY resumes with 61kg but has won 3 from 5 first up and he should enjoy the run of the race. Numbers: 1-5-4-2 Suggested Bet – MASAMUNE WIN RACE 6 TAK GOES BOOM ran <1.5L fourth in the high-rating Cheyne Bay C3 race at Ascot last start where Mistress Of War and Black For Cash ran second and third and then ran the quinella in an Ascot 66+ last week. She’s also a 2-time York winner, including at this distance, and maps to get a run to suit. LAKEVIEW LIGHTNING caused a boilover when leading throughout at this track/grade/distance last time out and the clever use of Rocky Cheung’s claim means he now drops 1.5kg from the win and meets his rivals better at the weights for winning. QUEEN NARDI comes from the same race where she jumped the $4.40 favourite and ran a solid fourth. DELTA ANNE was a forgive in the same race when held up for majority of the straight. Numbers: 6-5-4-10 Suggested Bet – TAK GOES BOOM WIN RACE 7 ROMMEL’S JEUNEY has drawn awkwardly but has the speed to be able to roll to the top. He’s a last-start winner at this track/grade/distance and whilst he’s now up 3kg, he’ll always be hard to run down if he can find the front at this level. SKY RIVER ran a head second to Rommel’s Jeuney before a solid fourth at Belmont last start. She meets Rommel’s Jeuney 2.5kg better off but the wide draw hurts. SPACE ACADEMY won well at Belmont 2 starts back when defeating subsequent winners in Fey King and Myzoom before enduring a tough run over 1900m at Albany. WHO SAZ YES will get back but should launch late she and is 1 from 1 at York. Numbers: 11-7-9-10 Suggested Bet – ROMMEL’S JEUNEY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,5 1,5 3,4,5,6,7,10 7,8,9,10,11 180 combinations Market Market
