Glenn Ingram’s Monday Sandown Preview Posted on April 4, 2026April 4, 2026 | Posted by Glenn Ingram RACE 1 PRIME PATTERN was supported at longer odds last start and unlucky not to win, held up at a key stage. Blinkers worked, only needs to be closer in the run to be a strong winning chance in a similar race. WHEN HARRY MET SALLY is a race winner and defied a betting drift at Ballarat, strong form prior, should hold up here. LEVENS HALL made a good debut at Pakenham, found a tricky spot and worked to the line well, could improve sharply. CYCLOTRON next best, this is easier than what he’s faced in two starts to date. Selections: 3,2,6,1 Suggested Bet: PRIME PATTERN RACE 2 Expecting a fast run race with pressure early. Keen to stick with ALLEVIATE a well-bred filly with the flying Danny O’Brien stable improving with racing and drawn to stalk the speed. JUSTIQUE beat a weak maiden field at Geelong in fast time and had plenty in hand, expected leader from a wide draw but pressure inside, a repeat would go close here. JEWEL OF HEAVEN took luck out of the equation winning first-up at Cranbourne and CARRIEDO tries hard, both looking to be forward in the run. Selections: 4,1,7,6 Suggested Bet: Exotics RACE 3 BOLD STRIKE has a strong SP profile but hasn’t been rewarding his supporters, the blinkers have been added to a hard and fit horse, he’s found his right race if they help him jump with any improvement. FINANCE SHOGUN beat him home at Cranbourne and looking to complete a hat trick of wins. Another apprentice engaged keeping weight off. SAVVIE BLANC is racing extremely well but mixing his pattern, watch for any betting moves or a COT. THE FLYING POPOV has been freshened, quiet jumpout, in the mix also. Selections: 9,2,3,7 Suggested Bet: BOLD STRIKE win RACE 4 VIM VITAE got back in the run in the Albury Guineas and made no impression, I suspect they ride him closer to the speed this time down in grade, trials and first-up win suggest he’s come back a better horse. LET IT BEEL was off the map in betting at Cranbourne and walked in, always shown talent and can go on with it. SATIRICALLY comes down from Sydney and should get the front, how that form measures up is unclear, watch betting. ENGINE OF WAR was good fresh, may need further now. Selections: 10,8,3,1 Suggested Bet: VIM VITAE 1 x 4 RACE 5 AZZACOOL is dual-nominated for Caulfield on Saturday. If she opts to run here it is a perfect race to keep progressing, a winner in fast time at Pakenham last start, this is not a strong race to repeat the effort. VANGOGH BANKCHEQUE was a noted drifter in betting behind Legacy Bound and ran accordingly. He could improve on the strength of his jumpouts prior to the first-up run. STRUGGLE STREET is airborne for Reece Goodwin, looks a key speed influence and dangerous if left alone on current form. AUXILLARY was plain fresh, will also race on speed and give a sight. Selections: 8,5,10,7 Suggested Bet: AZZACOOL win RACE 6 Race of the day. Big field coming out of the chute start, every horse gets their chance. BALASTIER has been mighty impressive in his career to date. His last start failure had genuine excuses and jumpouts have been excellent, a key winning chance. YOU’RE TOO VAIN is a hard horse to place with his rating for trainer Alicia McPherson but has found a suitable race and another to impress at the jumpouts to return. DEEPFLOAT DIVA looked in great condition at the Werribee jumpouts and did run well with this set-up last campaign. Wide open behind these. Selections: 9,4,11,7 Suggested Bet: BALASTIER win RACE 7 Many of these nominated elsewhere. If speedsters SISTER SHAY and CRIPPS take their place we are guaranteed a truly run race. That would bring NEW SOVEREIGN into play, impressive at the jumpouts and goes well fresh, he can sit out the back and swoop providing the track is playing fair. LIKE A TIGER has jumped out like a horse can run a race first-up before getting out in trip, he’s drawn to be prominent. Chris Waller has two in the race, CADILLAC SAM charged home at a price at Cranbourne beating a sub winner, he could measure up here with pace on. Selections: 2,6,11,4 Suggested Bet: NEW SOVEREIGN win RACE 8 Tough finish, wide in the quaddie. Again, a number of runners nominated elsewhere. Toppie LOVELYCUT deserves favouritism if she takes her place. Her jumpouts have been soft, Damian Lane carries the full 62kg. BLUE HAWAIIAN lacks a punch at the end of her races, she’s fit and in-form and come through the right races to figure. CHERISH ME has jumped out nicely to resume, big and burly filly, may take a run to get going, watch betting. HARPERLEE, HONOR GALORE and PERFECT PICTUTE are all in the mix. A race with a long tail. Selections: 1,12,4,8 Suggested Bet: Exotics Market Market
