Michael Heaton’s Saturday Dongara Preview Posted on April 2, 2026April 2, 2026 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 LOONA DAWN is a 16-start maiden but she should roll straight to the top here and be hard to run down. She’s been around the mark all prep and this looks her most suitable assignment yet. SNEAKY SESSION ran third with 57kg in a Geraldton C1 two starts ago and now carries 54kg after Jefferson Tsang’s claim in a Dongara Maiden. She looks the danger. SASSYASSA joins the yard of Catherine Godden and should enjoy the run of the race. MAGNIFICENT MIA was a sharp improver ridden on-speed last start but can be hit and miss out of the machine. Numbers: 4-7-9-6 Suggested Bet – LOONA DAWN WIN RACE 2 MRS KANGAROO resumes and is a handy mare in and around this level. She usually flies fresh and gets into this nicely with only 54.5kg after Bailey Webster’s claim considering 5 of her 6 rivals are rated below the handicap. ADDICTIVE DREAM’S form from 2 preps ago would see her hard to beat here but she’ll likely get back at a track that typically favours those on-speed. TWELVEUNDER is another resuming and looks the likely leader. She is capable if she can replicate her maiden win. SCENIC BOOM was solid at Geraldton 2 starts back and drops 5kg on that effort. Numbers: 2-3-7-6 Suggested Bet – MRS KANGAROO WIN RACE 3 COZZIES CHOICE has the benefit of being a previous track winner and was solid at Geraldton both 2 and 3 starts back. She’ll carry just 53.5kg in a fairly thin field and has the speed to get across and land outside the leader if they press the button early. QUICK AS SILVER was well beaten at York last start but his previous 3 efforts were all good enough for this. He looks the likely leader and can improve sharply. GOLDEN OPERA joins another new home and is a consistent filly but will likely get back and need luck. TRULY SUPREME was going well prior to her freshen up but 1100m looks far too sharp for her. Numbers: 7-2-5-1 Suggested Bet – COZZIES CHOICE WIN RACE 4 PRINCE RAGNAR is brilliantly placed even with the 61kg after the claim. He’s a multiple Geraldton 70+ winner who has raced in higher grade than this 62+ event at his past 20 starts and he also looks the logical leader. Hard to beat. TALKING HEADS hasn’t raced for 8 months but was a strong winner at this track/grade/distance last year and can track Prince Ragnar throughout running. SAFE HUSTLE ran third to Talking Heads in that race last year and has been going well this preparation. LOVA SESSION is a handy mare resuming but 1100m is well short of her best distance. Numbers: 1-6-5-3 Suggested Bet – PRINCE RAGNAR WIN RACE 5 ENDLESS JOY ran back-to-back strong placings before reeling off all the fastest closing sectionals in a much better run than reads on paper behind Cheyne Bay (subsequent runner-up) at Ascot last start. Black For Cash and Mistress Of War both placed in that event then ran the quinella in an Ascot 66+ event this week to frank the form while Endless Joy drops back into a Dongara Cup with only 52kg after Bailey Webster’s claim. Nice race for her. STRIKING FELLA has a sticky draw to overcome but won last year’s Dongara Cup impressively and was a good run at Pinjarra last start. KENTUCKY BLUE is a last-start Geraldton winner who ran third in last year’s Dongara Cup and he looks the likely leader. BECALOTTI improved last start and the best version of her would see her be more than competitive here. Numbers: 12-3-5-4 Suggested Bet – ENDLESS JOY EACH-WAY RACE 6 THE RUSH didn’t have any luck in a far stronger race last start but defeated handy type Sparkle Corner at her previous outing at Geraldton. She’s dropping from 1600m to 1200m which isn’t ideal but she can still park up in the first half of the field and be within striking distance on straightening. IRONCLAD BOY hasn’t raced for more than 7 months but he’s well placed in this company and Tony Scally’s stable has been red hot all season. CHOICE BID resumes and isn’t usually a fresh horse but she should get the right run close to the speed and is capable on his day. LIM’S SARBACH has been freshened and is a horse with plenty of upside but the concern is that he could end up too far off them in running. Numbers: 1-2-5-3 Suggested Bet – THE RUSH WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 2,5,7 1,6 3,4,5,6,12 1,2,3,5,7 Market Market
