RACE 5 NO.2 LA BELLA DIOSA

Quality mare LA BELLA DIOSA will be fitter for one run this campaign and looks the class runner when she contests the Bendigo Gold Bracelet (1400m). The five year old worked home nicely when finishing 6th behind WINTER BRIDE over 1200 metres at Randwick on March 9. She will appreciate stepping up in distance and is weighted to win under the conditions of this race. She will settle off the pace but has a big finish and should prove too classy for this field. On a very tough program, LA BELLA DIOSA is ideally placed to win her 7th race from 21 starts and appeals as the best bet of the day.

RACE 6 NO.5 DESERT PATH

Promising imported stayer DESERT PATH should be fitter for three Australian starts and looks a strong winning chance when he contests the Benchmark 84 Handicap (2400m). The four year old worked home nicely to finish 2nd behind GOATHLAND over 2000 metres at Randwick on March 2 before another solid effort when finishing 6th behind SUPERNOVA over 1900 metres at Rosehill on March 16. He should appreciate stepping up in distance, drops 3kg on his last run and looks drawn for a good run. The Chris Waller stable places their horses to advantage and appear to have found the ideal race for DESERT PATH.

RACE 9 NO.4 WAGING WAR

WAGING WAR is a very smart horse venturing across from South Australia that will be fitter for one run back from a spell and makes strong appeal when he runs in the Benchmark 90 Handicap (1400m). The five year old resumed from a spell with a luckless 2nd behind SNITZCRAFT over 1200 metres at Morphettville on March 11. Connections protested unsuccessfully on that occasion after he was taken off the track in the final stages of the race. He is yet to win second-up but has performed well in the past and looks very well graded in this class. He gets the benefit of Stephanie Thornton’s 2kg allowance and WAGING WAR represents one of the better bets of the day.
