David Shortte’s Thursday Mandurah Best Bets Posted on June 16, 2022June 16, 2022 | Posted by David Shortte Race 5 No.1 ARCHIPELAGO LAD Consistent sprinter who has managed 3 wins and 3 seconds from his last 9 starts. Placed in all 3 starts from this box and maps to punch up and hold a very prominent position in this event. Won a harder race two starts back in 22.88 seconds and if he can reproduce that here should be landing the cash. This race looks ideal. Race 7 No. 6 JAY’S DOUBLE Appreciated the drop in grade last start when he ran a sizzling first split of 6.61, leading throughout in a Best Of Night time of 17.15 seconds. Steps back up to Free To All company here but has performed well in this grade in the past and from box 6 has won 2 of 4. The clear danger is drawn in box 2 Weblec Warrior and they look a nice quinella but I thought at the better price Jay’s Double may be able to lead up and give them something to catch. Race 9 No.8 WHO BE YOU Prolific winner who is likely to relish the drop from Free To All back to a Grade 4 here. Was runner up behind the 302 metre track record holder Rage On Zatara two back in a time of 17.25 seconds and last time this guy went around in a race under free to all standard was six starts ago when he came from box six and led all the way in 17.06. Has won 2 of 5 from this draw and should get plenty of room to accelerate early on in this. Under that circumstance I can see him slingshotting around them and taking a power of beating. Very keen!
