Darren Clayton’s Redcliffe Preview Posted on June 24, 2022June 24, 2022 | Posted by Darren Clayton Race 1 ALBY TWO CHAINS (4) was the sectional star out of the Patrons Purse after retreating to the rear from the wide gate and then slicing home between runners in electric closing panels. He warmed up for his Qld outing with a sharp Melton win and should relish this opposition. THE RACONTEUR (7) took on the strong Patrons Purse last week and was running up just behind them when not too far from the winner Manila Playboy. Dominant in a qualifier two starts back over the AP 2138m, he will be searching for openings. CAPTAIN NEMO (1) is fresh for this assignment after fading last time he graced the track. With early hustle and the good gate, he can be in the right position. BOMBADIER JUJON (9) was just 2m from Delightful Dude last start but does not get any favours from this alley. Selections: 4-7-1-9 Suggested Bet: ALBY TWO CHAINS (4) to win Race 2 LAMANDIER (2) was well beaten last start at Melton, but that form has been franked in this Carnival with the winner Sebs Choice having won here last week and a live chance in the Cup tonight. He has the hustle to force the issue here. TEAGAN BANNER (8) was runner-up to Artful Maid last week in a standing start event where he was strong to the line in sharp time. A tidy win on this deck two runs back, he will need to press through to get into the battle. CALA JANE (7) cops gate 7 again, last week it was the outside of the front line at The Creek, this time she looks set to be buried, but an economical map is a plus. THERESACHANCE (1) finished 2nd to Kashed Up at his last start and boasts the early speed to dictate his position. Selections: 2-8-7-1 Suggested Bet: LAMANDIER (2) to win Race 3 THE HONEY QUEEN (2) made an error at her first Qld appearance that ended any chance of featuring. Handing to Qld off the back of three successive Menangle victories, she gets every opportunity from the gate advantage. JERADAS DELIGHT (6) cops the outside paint at her first look at the track and first run back from a spell which makes her task even more difficult. Her trial efforts have been enormous, where she has worked and attacked the line. BALLERINI (7) will need to take the next step here, but her win last week in a mare’s qualifier was full of merit from a wide gate where she was too big and too strong. SPORTY DANCER (4) faces a sticky gate here and positioning cheaply will be vital stepping up in grade for this contest, yet her last start win in mare’s grade was good. Selections: 2-6-7-4 Suggested Bet: THE HONEY QUEEN (2) to win Race 4 ANOTHER STATEMENT (1) ran some sizzling closing panels two starts back when chasing Captain Crusader in 2647m stand start contest at Albion Park. A wide gate last start behind Manila Playboy stung and the inside lane here looks a bonus. ITS MR CLOONEY (5) was a winner in veteran’s company last start from gate 2 when leading throughout and setting a new best winning benchmark. He does boast a win on this deck and a standing start success. KANENA PROVLIMA (4) grabbed 3rd behind Sebs Choice here last week when he was 5m away. His starting manners from the tapes are not polished as yet, but a small field suits. WATTS UP SUNSHINE (6) has had a mixed campaign in Qld to date, not returning the results, but his runs have been good, and he would not surprise. Selections: 1-5-4-6 Suggested Bet: ANOTHER STATEMENT (1) to win Race 5 AMORE VITA (1) was super in her first step towards a Qld Oaks, overcoming a crack field at headquarters last week, showing a paralysing closing sprint to cruise past them. Her only defeat this season was after a tough trip in the NSW Oaks and she has every favour from the gate. SOHO RHAPSODY (7) maps to get the ideal trip in behind the speed and take first shot at the lane in the hope of an upset. Only a neck away against older mare’s two starts back, she will be waiting for the gaps. COVER GIRL (8) could not get over the top of Cheesandkisses last time out after securing a cosy trip behind the speed. The gate stings in an early dilemma to play easy on the pegs or chance their arm attacking. RACY ROXY (6) has not traversed The Triangle previously and is given no favours from gate 6. With no shortage of talent, she comes into this with successive AP victories. Selections: 1-7-8-6 Suggested Bet: Flexi trifecta 1 / 7-8 / 4-6-7-8 Race 6 TARDELLI (7) chases the second G1 of his brief career with a victory here adding to his Bathurst Gold Crown trophy. Super in his heat after working around them from the second line and putting up a 35m margin. He oozes class and can overcome the inside alley. HOLD ONTO YA BLING (6) will be looking to make full use of the front-line gate. Sent forward from gate 6 to lead throughout in smart fashion in his heat, he will need to get forward and looks set to find the front once again. From there, he will need to be tactical with the tempo. FOR REAL LIFE (9) was put into the contest in the early stages of his heat run to sit parked, clinging on for 2nd. He is given no favours from the gate for the Final. ODINS BLACK CROWS (8) did not see the gaps when he needed them behind some tired runners before getting out to grab 2nd to Tardelli. The added experience helps his chances. Selections: 7-6-9-8 Suggested Bet: TARDELLI (7) to win Race 7 RIPP (6) had a pipe-opener at the trials on Tuesday where Bern Hewitt was not looking for too much from his start 3YO. Peeling off cover to pull clear and stop the clock in 51.3 for the mile, it showed why he is a two-time G1 winner from just seven starts. TEDDY DISCO (3) filled the six-pack last week, taking his record here at Redcliffe to a perfect 6 from 6, pulling away for an emphatic victory in the Sales Series Final. He made them look second-tier last week. DANGERZONE (7) will be relying on some factors to fall his way, with some gaps and track to work with. Despite that, he has won both starts at this venue and was super in front last start. TIMS A TROOPER (5) held on for 2nd as Amore Vita went sailing past last week. Taking his first look at this deck, he has not been treated kindly from gate 5. Selections: 6-3-7-5 Suggested Bet: RIPP (6) to win Race 8 MACH SHARD (13) is 2 for 2 in Qld with both wins from the tapes over 13-furlongs. With the same conditions, the same handicap he has faced in both wins and a sizzling trial hit out to familiarise himself with the track, a threepeat is within reach. TURN IT UP (12) will need to do it differently here after his previous two runs here on The Triangle have been in smaller fields where he has been right near the speed. Securing the right cart into the contest will be crucial to his devastating closing power. SEBS CHOICE (3) was a stylish winner here last week from the tapes in a warm-up contest, sitting outside L L Cool J for the last mile and proving far too strong. This is the next step, but his Melbourne form measures up. MAKE MINE MEMPHIS (2) was sectionally super last week behind Jilliby Kung Fu. This will be his first look at Redcliffe which is of some concern, but he looks versatile enough. Selections: 13-12-3-2 Suggested Bet: MACH SHARD (13) to win Race 9 CRUNCH TIME (5) lines up here as a 5YO having won at this trip as a 3YO and 4YO and claiming the age/class record each time. Bottled up last start in the 2280m Patrons Purse, the small field and back to the mile appeal. MY ULTIMATE STAR (2) broke 53 for his last 800m last week, yet still was at the tail of the field such was the closing tempo. Closer to the action in the smaller field is in his favour. RANGER BOMB (1) chased home behind Feelingforarainbow last time out to grab 2nd where he hit the line in nice fashion. SAM IS PERFECTION (3) claimed a veteran’s contest last start after securing a peg run and then charging over the top when the gaps opened. Selections: 5-2-1-3 Suggested Bet: CRUNCH TIME (5) to win Market Market
