Scott Embry’s Saturday Roebourne Preview Posted on June 24, 2022June 24, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BILLY JACK has had one start on dirt previously at Carnarvon for a big win. He is classy and from the inside gate he can kick through to lead and control. Jess Gray is already having a big season and she rides these circuits really well. The key to leading and winning at Roebourne seems to be rolling rather than stacking. Jess rarely stacks. MISTINGUETTE looked the winner for the entire straight last week at Carnarvon and was only run down in the shadows of the post. Backs up off 5 days, travels to Roebourne and is importantly a 2 time winner at the track. MACAVITY ran well fresh and is usually a horse who takes a few runs to peak. BELLINI BOY may need further. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – BILLY JACK WIN RACE 2 FOO TROUBLE was back to somewhere near his best last start when finishing second in the same race as Hush Now, Bold Victory and Flying Arabian. Meets Flying Arabian 4.5kg better, Hush Now 4kg better and Bold Victory 2.5kg better at the weights. Should be able to work across from a wide gate to settle over the speed and should fight on well. FLYING ARABIAN got the blows late in betting and while he missed the money he did run off the track into the corner and wobbled badly. ZEEWIJK won well fresh and this is no tougher. HUSH NOW was a shock winner but seemed to relish dirt racing. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – FOO TROUBLE EACHWAY RACE 3 HAWK made his Roebourne debut in a C3 1200m event behind Zeewiijk, I Hope You Dance and Modern Times when finishing fourth beaten only 1.5L. That should prove far and away the best form for a maiden and importantly Lisa Staples sticks. Drawn wide to stay out of trouble and in a race with a lot of unknowns he looks the ‘proven’ commodity. SNIPPY MAREE will have followers as a trial winner on the grass at Lark Hill. Sue Olive’s horses fly fresh and she just needs to leave cleanly from the inside gate. MISS SILVERSPRINGS is going well but lacks a real killer blow. TOP NOTCH SCOTCH was right back in trip last start and fought on well out wide. Numbers: 2 – 12 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – HAWK WIN RACE 4 ABLE ENGINE is proven on the dirt and won well first-up. Aaron Pateman’s entire team went well at the opening meeting and he will only improve getting out further in trip. Bambun Boy an obvious danger but given the fact he’s never raced on the dirt we’ll side up with Able Engine. BAMBUN BOY hasn’t been seen at the races for 58 days but he is a more than capable 3 year old. Drawn in gate 1 and should be able to jump and punch through underneath them to hold the front. If he handles the surface, he could be capable of going through the grades in the NW. RHINO BUSTER doesn’t run bad races and he’ll be winning another race or two this campaign. SECRET PEARL finds a new home, is rock hard fit and if they turn it into a grind she’ll be coming late. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – ABLE ENGINE WIN RACE 5 MODERN TIMES was another galloper on a tough opening meeting for Michelle Cockell who looked like having a big team on paper but unfortunately didn’t quite eventuate for her. Steps up to 1400m which is at (or just beyond) his limit and rises to 60kg but like the fact she’s opted for a senior rider on a hard horse to control. He can get out and roll in this and try to pinch it at the 600. BLOCK OF LAND looks the logical danger. Kate Southam rides Roebourne really well and from the barrier she’ll be in a stalking position throughout. SECOND CHOICE ran out of his skin first start on the dirt. POWER AND PASSION an improver. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – MODERN TIMES WIN RACE 6 BONDONNA is another from the travelling team of Malcolm Mackenzie who looks a winning chance as he takes his team to Roebourne from Carnarvon. Last week Malcolm had three narrow seconds on the program (Mistinguette, Peppi Grove and Miss Brighton). Hopefully they can all go just as well 5 days later but one of them can put their head in front. This is a wide open race and Bondonna is going well. I HOPE YOU DANCE has promised to win another race for a long, long while. She’s an honest little mare who tries her guts out. SNIPSAWAY comes from the Michael Ball yard and every one of his galloper ran well at the opening meeting and all met with a level of support in betting. GINGER SENORITA was better than it looks. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – BONDONNA WIN RACE 7 KING OF PLANETS was frustrating first-up. Nearly refused to load after being backed from $2.60 into $1.90 and then was never travelling the winner at any stage. Does meet Mybak 4kg better at the weights and considering the level of support that came his way we’ll follow up and go one more time before shying away from him. MYBAK was a dominant winner at the opening meeting. Showed gate speed, travelled boldly and let down strongly at the top of the straight to collar them with relative ease. See no reason why he won’t be hard to beat again. SIXPENCE SPENT is now a 10 year old but usually goes well first-up. LUCKY LINDA LULU is quickly finding her feet on the dirt. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – KING OF PLANETS WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,4,6 1,2 2,4,5,6,7,8 1,3,4,5 Market Market
