Darren Clayton’s Redcliffe Preview Posted on March 11, 2022March 18, 2022 | Posted by Darren Clayton Race 1 DEUS EX (4) could not repel the challenge of Speech Is Silver last start when trying to see it out which followed a tough 2nd from the chair. Despite having his first look at the track, he looks too classy. OHOKA CHOPPER (1) struck trouble here last Saturday when looking to go three from three on this deck. The gate avails the options. TOMMY LINCOLN (8) was mixing it with the open class performers last campaign and resumes but may just be a run short. BITCOIN (7) was dominant last week to lead throughout for a smart win but will be searching for openings from this alley. Selections: 4-1-7-8 Suggested Bet: DEUS EX (4) to win, Flexi exotics 4 / 1-2-7-8 Race 2 SMOOTH CASH (8) has put together a strong record here on The Triangle in midweek company and finds a qualifier at the right time of his campaign following a strong 10m victory when pulling away last start. TEDDY FEELS GOOD (1) is still winless in Queensland from five starts where he has been the favourite on three occasions. Will need to handle the track much better than his only attempt here. BETTATHANIDEAL (7) could be the knockout if the 1 can lead and get him to the lane. THE HERVEY BAY (3) looks set to do it the hard way again, as he did on Wednesday night with his chances related to the workload. Selections: 8-1-7-3 Suggested Bet: SMOOTH CASH (8) each-way Race 3 SPEECH IS SILVER (1) sat parked last start when trying to complete a hat-trick of victories and finding it just out of reach. Mapping for the perfect trip, the only concern is if the leader is left alone. TURN IT UP (2) owns sizzling gate speed and from this gate should be in front soon after release. 3rd last start when chasing three wins on the bounce, it will be his first look at Redcliffe. BLACKSADANCE (7) is not really suited when hemmed away but off a cosy trip can be searching for the gaps. STAR GALLERIA (9) was dominant in front on this track last week but is given no favours from outside the second line. Selections: 1-2-7-9 Suggested Bet: SPEECH IS SILVER (1) to win Race 4 SOHO SINATRA (1) was slammed with gate 12 last start with the impost too overbearing in his search of four successive wins. With early speed, he gets every chance to bounce back. BOMBADIER JUJON (7) will take some benefit from his last outing when resuming from a spell and importantly will get the economical trip awaiting the passing lane. INFATUATION (9) was only a neck from Bitcoin last start when hitting the line strongly but comes up with another tough draw. THE IDEAL DANCER (2) was beaten by a wide gate last start when forced to retreat in the early stages with the improved gate helping his cause. Selections: 1-7-9-2 Suggested Bet: SOHO SINATRA (1) to win Race 5 BETTERTHANDIAMONDS (6) is given no favours from this alley where she resumes from a spell. It looks a wide-open race and off the back of a tidy trial and a 2m margin to Jeradas Delight last start, she might just be the one. JASPER (5) was never really in the mix last start when resuming from a spell. Taking benefit of the run, she can be sharper. SPIRITED BELLE (7) is unbeaten in three starts in Queensland but receives no favours from this alley first-up. BLUE IVY (8) will appreciate a return to mares only company, with her record against her own sex showing two wins from her past three. Selections: 6-5-7-8 Suggested Bet: BETTERTHANDIAMONDS (6) to win Race 6 CAPTAIN NEMO (1) was large in defeat when returning from a spell after having no public trial in readiness. Sitting parked in sloppy conditions, he claimed a brave 2nd to Juddy Douglas with the gate providing every chance. THE GENERAL (7) can be a hard follow but he finds conditions here to be stalking the speed and ready to take his shot. OBI ONE (9) might be the one that can get to the pegs and three pegs would be a great spot to possie up. YEP GOT CHOOKS (8) can beat the 9 to the pegs if need be or settling in the running line can feature. Selections: 1-7-9-8 Suggested Bet: Flexi trifecta 1 / 7-8-9 Race 7GOLIGHTLY (8) is a two-time winner at this track that was not suited in transit here last week. Forced to do his share of work two starts back, he maps for the trip to arrive over the top. KEAYANG MARVEN (5) was making a sustained run from back in the field last start and then lost his momentum when locking wheels at the home turn. This is within reach. THREE IN HEAVEN (3) has been kept fresh since his last appearance when going in search of a quartet of successive victories and takes his first look at Redcliffe. COMMODORE JUJON (4) grabbed 2nd to the airborne It Aint The Money last start and despite the sticky gate, his record here is smart. Selections: 8-5-3-4 Suggested Bet: GOLIGHTLY (8) to win Race 8 CROSSED LEGS (1) was a winner here last week from this same gate when hemmed away three back but finding the gaps to shake clear. Looking to be one spot closer, she can rinse and repeat. JEWEL OF PEAK (2) was gunned down by Crossed Legs last week but had spent some petrol to find the front from the second line. The gate improvement is a big plus. HAMMERTIME HARLEY (5) ended up locked away from inside the second line last week and never got into the battle. CHARM OFFENSIVE (9) charged home to score at Albion Park last start but also boasts four wins here where she is also trained. The gate makes it tricky. Selections: 1-2-5-9 Suggested Bet: CROSSED LEGS (1) to win Race 9 ROCK BOTTOM (7) landed gate 5 last week in a mountain that proved too steep. With second line options to plot his own course, the front-line tempo should assist his charge. IT AINT THE MONEY (6) is in super touch and last week pressed on from the wide gate and once in control saw it out. The wider gate makes it tougher. LOMBO HEAVEN (4) will be first up from a spell, his last outing when not far from Deus Ex. Gate 4 at this starting point is tricky. OUR BONDI BEACH (2) is never far from the action and can always be seen making a closing play in the stretch. Selections: 7-6-4-2 Suggested Bet: ROCK BOTTOM (7) to win Race 10 GARLAND GREENE (6) faces the wide gate but should appreciate a return to the mobile conditions following his effort from a 40m handicap here on Tuesday with a fitness edge on the main danger. RED CASTLETON (5) steps out for the first time in 2022 after his 2021 Inter Dominion campaign that reached a crescendo with a Menangle win after missing the Final. At his peak, he takes this, fitness being the query. DOUG (7) has parked his manners and been making errors in recent starts and makes it a risk to follow. DO BALL (1) should get a nice trip from this alley which will aid his chances of featuring. Selections: 6-5-7-1 Suggested Bet: GARLAND GREENE (6) to win Market Market
