Chris Nelson’s Randwick Best Bets Posted on February 11, 2022February 11, 2022 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 No.2 Metallicity Team Snowden trained debutante who fetched 340K at the sales and is a half to Catch Me who won the Gimcrack back in 2018 for the same stable. The best lead from this yard is when they win trials and this one has won all three kicking off in December of last year rounding out with a surging finish to score at Rosehill late last month. Obviously market support is all important however I’m expecting him to run well. RACE 6 No.12 Quantico John O’Shea has a strong hand in this race with the very smart Lost And Running and this lightly raced sprinter Quantico both resuming and note Quantico did beat his better performed stablemate in a recent barrier trial. He holds a strong first up record and it’s very hard to get past the 7.5kg weight difference in his favour tomorrow. On paper he’s better placed on dry ground however both defeats on soft have come with valid excuses. RACE 8 No.9 Verry Elleegant Champion mare who of course is the reigning Melbourne Cup winner bolting in Australia’s greatest race only a matter of a few months back. Here she is first up in a very winnable Apollo Stakes tomorrow and at likely each-way odds. There’s no clear leader in the race suggesting she won’t be giving away too much start from that inside draw and although not at her peak her class will carry her a long way towards getting over those in front of her late.
