Chris Nelson’s Randwick Best Bets Posted on August 5, 2022August 5, 2022 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 6 No.1 Maotai Kacy Fogden trained galloper who makes his return to the track tomorrow as a gelding having had the ultimate gear change over the break. He led at all 3 starts last prep however sat off the speed in a recent trial running home nicely to beat all bar the winner Faretti. Unbeaten fresh he’s a winner here on the track and will handle any give in the ground. RACE 7 No.6 Lord Ardmore Thought he was a risk rising 500m second up at Rosehill last start however I was completely wrong, he went straight to the front and never looked like being headed scoring by almost 2 lengths. Fitter and sticking to the same trip on Saturday he’s up in grade however gets some decent weight relief to offset that. He can win again. RACE 8 No.2 Hilal The Group 2 Missile Stakes reminds us the spring is fast approaching and hopefully the weather takes a turn for the better when it arrives! Going with this Hawkes trained galloper who gets back off the speed in his races however from a decent draw and being fresh he may well find a spot closer than many expect. He’s won a lead up trial which is a good pointer from this yard, gut feel is he’s a little sharper first up this time around. Quaddie 6, 12 2, 3, 1 5, 4, 1, 10 2, 1, 10, 13 Market Market
