Chris Nelson’s Gold Coast Best Bets Posted on March 11, 2021March 11, 2021 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 2 No.12 Skins Tough day ahead on a very wet surface which has copped a drenching this week. I’m a big fan of this one from the Vandyke yard who was tipped out for a break following his dominant Doomben win in October last year. He’s had the benefit of a recent barrier trial when not knocked about and he’s unbeaten both tries on soft ground. Just has to handle the heavy to be right in this. RACE 6 No.7 Sweet Dolly Unbeaten filly shooting for the big money in the 2yo Jewel and on form there’s no other runner you’d want to be with. Bolted in on debut before coming to town doing plenty wrong still winning. First up at the Sunshine Coast recently she toyed with her rivals winning in good time with jockey Justin Stanley still leaving plenty in the tank. Unseen on heavy ground she’s likely to get out to a better price than early markets have her. RACE 7 No.8 Euro Belle The very wet surface is going to suit this mare from the Gillian Heinrich yard who won first up at Ipswich accounting for Chivargo who has only been beaten once in 6 attempts this prep. She then ran on very well at Doomben from second last into fourth spot making up a ton of ground. She’s very effective in the mud, the wetter the better for her!
