Deane’s Caulfield Saturday Best Bets Posted on July 14, 2017 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 1 NO. 3 DATA POINT Talented galloper DATA POINT is back in class and distance when he runs in the Benchmark 78 Plate (1400m) and should prove very hard to beat. The four year old has been freshened since a brave third behind PETROLOGY over 1600 metres at Moonee Valley on June 17. He just battled to run a strong 1600 metres on that occasion so the ease in distance is ideal and looks drawn for a sweet run from barrier four. Premiership leader Beau Mertens takes the mount and DATA POINT appeals as one of the better bets of the day. RACE 3 NO. 3 MOONLITE’S CHOICE MOONLITE’S CHOICE can bounce back from a luckless effort last start and looks a strong winning chance in the 3YO Fillies Handicap (1200m). The Darren Weir trained filly wasn’t suited by an inside draw when finishing 5th behind UNIQUE LOVELY over 1100 metres at Caulfield on July 1. She will appreciate a slight step up in distance and the wider draw (barrier 10) should allow her to settle back before unwinding her strong finishing burst. This is the right race for MOONLITE’S CHOICE to record her fifth career win from just 11 starts. RACE 7 NO. 7 SUPIDO The feature race of the day is the Monash Stakes (1100m) and smart sprinter SUPIDO appears ideally placed to make a winning return to the track. The five year old hasn’t raced since an unplaced effort in the Group One Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill on March 18. He boasts a fine fresh record of four wins from 6 previous first-up runs and looks destined for better class races later in this preparation. His main rivals in this race are LORD OF THE SKY, who is a previous winner of this race but resuming from a tendon injury, whilst the West Australian interest will lie with CHOCOLATE HOLIC, who has a very good winning profile but looks better suited over slightly longer distances. SUPIDO is the right horse for this race and represents the best bet of the day. SuperPick - RACE 7 NO. 7 SUPIDO - Profit Plus – 25% (Win) Bet Now
