Glenn Ingram’s Saturday Flemington Preview Posted on October 22, 2026October 22, 2026 | Posted by Glenn Ingram Race 1 Straight track 1000m to start the day, even tempo predicted. UNFLINCHING is likely leader. Keen to pen the local hopes. ICE KOOL parks just off them on the outer and looks the leading chance coming down from Sydney with D Lane in a stalking role, fellow interstate raiders WAY TO THE STARS and POINT AND SHOOT next best, little separating the two. SPYWIRE has 59.5kg and the inside draw, if they don’t run along early he’s going to find it hard to quicken off it. BRED EM’ALL is lightly raced and progressive, this is toughest test. Selections: 4,3,2,1 Suggested Bet: ICE KOOL win Race 2 (Best Value) A fast tempo for the 1200m expected BUGGSY comes through the Danehill stakes and is suited rising to 1200m, firmer ground is an advantage so is on weather watch with rain forecast. Looking for something strong late and TURBO SAINT fits the bill, well-backed on debut to score at Geelong and then missed the start at his next run, tried hard but it was a sit/sprint. He can flop and rattle home late. THE SPEED MACHINE will give a sight in front if he can handle the pressure around him, BARRACKS was game in defeat 2nd up this appears harder again. Selections: 9,2,3,5 Suggested Bet: TURBO SAINT 1 x 4 Race 3 Thought HIERARCHY was the run of the race at Caulfield last start following the rail home, most of these racing dour and looking for further, think Ethen Brown can be positive from rhe wide gate in a race lacking tempo. TRUE REBEL was punted in the race last start and had to scout wide to make his run. 2000m on a big track, if he’s genuine he takes beating. Wary of a positive James McDonald aboard WRITTEN EMPIRE out of the same race and drawn the pole. SALANN hit the line strongly at Caulfield, taking on the boys, some hope. Selections: 10,2,5,11 Suggested Bet: HIEARCHY 1 x 3 Race 4 Race of the day! Three very progressive fillies. ANGEL’S FURY is scratched from an easy kill at Cranbourne, Friday. She lines up in a stakes race fresh, her jumpouts have been super-impressive. But, she is a fast horse, can she sustain it over 1200m is the question. CHAYAN should love Flemington, too far back at Caulfield, she’s had a nice tick-over jumpout around the circle at Flem and expecting her strong late. AROUSED was outstanding running a fast 1000m at Ballarat to win on debut, she looks more suited to the 1200m and in the right stable to keep progressing. ALMOST AN ANGEL is a blowout hope at odds. Selections: 1,3,11,5 Suggested Bet: Exotics Race 5 Weather could wreak havoc with a number of runners in this race. Like what SPLASH BACK has been doing at the jumpouts, she has residual fitness from a QLD prep and her best runs are early in the campaigns. The map is niggly. EXTRAGALCTIC has been super in two runs this time in, both at G1 level, does it need it dry to be running to her peak. JIGSAW was impressive at Caulfield, the straight track is his nemesis. If the full forecast of rain lands, giving LE FRACAS some hope, goes well this track and distance. Selections: 7,8,2,6 Suggested Bet: SPLASH BACK 1 x 3 Race 6 SURFIN’ BIRD is well-placed to go back-to-back for the Waterhouse/Bott stable, been to Flemington once over this carnival last year and disappointed, maps to get all favours in the lead. Waller’s leading hope is BUCKAROO back in class and distance after an ordinary effort on a wet track, he’s better than that, he’s on weather watch. SUN GOD settles just off the speed and generally improves third-up into the prep. The good PONDALOWIE can swoop on them late, hard to find the good one. Selections: 12,6,3,11 Suggested Bet: Exotics Race 7 PINHOLE is big & raw and was able to get around Caulfield to win the G2 Herbert Power, he’s a natural improver getting onto the bigger track at Flemington, synthetic hoof filler is interesting. AETHELWULF should control the speed and another suited to Flemington, beaten but not disgraced behind JUJA KIBO who kept finding off the slow speed. KING PEDRO maps well after chasing home Attrition in the Hill Stakes, sure to be improved, barrier could be tricky. Selections: 3,12,2,11 Suggested Bet: PINHOLE each way Race 8 WARWOVEN had the perfect run to beat Blind Raise in the Guineas. Stepping up to 2040m favours him over BLIND RAISE in my opinion. The best of SIR DELIUS would take a power of beating, thought he was disappointing last start but wary of the improvement into his target race third-up. ATTRITION has been looked after and returned to form to win the Hill Stakes. He’s not out of this. CEOLWULF followed star mare Autumn Glow around in the King Charles. Wet track brings him right in to winning contention. Selections: 11,3,1,4 Suggested Bet: Exotics Race 9 (Best Bet) This appears a target race for Sydney filly SOVERATO. Two runs this time in and found the line strongly in both. Damian Lane jumps aboard at 54kg, a potential soft track is no concern and should be winning against a fairly even bunch outside of TOO DARN DISCREET taking 6kg off that mare. She will relish the rise to 2000m. CLASSIC GEM comes into calculations if the track is wet, she is dour but can race closer to the speed when asked. SHOCKLETZ getting miles in the legs for the Melbourne Cup, in flying form, wouldn’t discount. Selections: 13,1,14,3 Suggested Bet: SOVERATO – This appears a target race third-up for the Chris Waller-trained mare with a good draw and no weight, handles all surfaces WILDCARD: R4#5 ALMOST AN ANGEL
