Glenn Ingram’s Thursday Sandown Preview Posted on January 7, 2026January 8, 2026 | Posted by Glenn Ingram RACE 1 SONIC SURGE was set a task on debut reversed out of the early running and made a long-sustained run into the money. Liked the way he chased the line for this rise in distance, blinkers go on and Jamie Melham legs up. MISSAPPREHEND has jumped out between runs and was in the wrong part of the track last time out, also a winning chance. The race falls away quickly, outside chances to PHINEAS who has a big finish and can improve sharply second-up at 1400 and MISS MARANDA, drawn the ace marble, will be trouble if she can’t make use of it early. ANIMAL can go forward, gap between runs the query. Selections: 3,8,2,7 Suggested Bet: SONIC SURGE win RACE 2 PER FAVORE made an excellent debut at Cranbourne, trapped wide on-speed and never shirked the issue, trying hard to the line. A softer run this time can see her break through from a good draw. VIVARINI is a logical choice to come back to a 1000m after fading late at Werribee on debut and could take catching from the chute start. SPRITZ has good gate speed and will be on-speed, wider draw no disadvantage, query her strength late. LIGHTWATCH has jumped out well for a 1000m contest on debut. Selections: 6,8,7,2 Suggested Bet: PER FAVORE win RACE 3 RODRIGUEZ has a big set of lungs, his two wins have come the same way breaking up the fields early and he keeps running, now switches back to a dry surface, 1000m suits and in the mix for this rise in class. YOLO was heavily-backed at Seymour first-up in a weak race and never looked like losing, positive rider change with Logan Bates up and could improve further. PARTY BENEFITS appeals up in grade, improved at the jumpouts and in her performances on race-day this prep, blending in from a wide alley she should be hitting the line strongly. SATIN DIVA gets a class drop and has been racing well enough to capitalise at the lower level. Selections: 1,4,6,8 Suggested Bet: None RACE 4 Wide open race. TWO SIGMA showed a glimpse of what she’s capable of, hitting the line nicely at Cranbourne after a slow start, yet to hit her straps in Australia, this is her best chance to date if she can jump clean from the gates. METALLIC RULER has raced as he jumped out leading in for the new stable, he too comes through the same race and has a positive racing style. For a horse bred to stay SO SUAVE has been forward enough in his jumpouts to be in the mix first-up at 1400m, wide draw for Ben Melham to overcome. GIRLS NIGHT sets the tempo up front and could give some cheek up in grade. Selections: 13,1,7,12 Suggested Bet: None RACE 5 SPARKLE LINK looks set to peak third-up, she was excellent against the pattern and the race shape at Geelong and can race handy to the speed if Craig Williams shows intent to find a position. TAKEMETOOTHEMOON was well-placed win at Yarra Valley after a good fresh effort, in a race lacking speed she deserves respect rising in class and taking up the running. DIVINE THOUGHTS comes right back in grade and likely to settle in the first pairing, yet to win for new stable, this her best chance. FAM GORMAN has been poor of late, may now be ready to peak and has Ben Melham up, preferred firm track conditions likely. Selections: 11,12,8,4 Suggested Bet: SPARKLE LINK win RACE 6 This is a good race for ALIANO improving with racing and bolted in his maiden at Sale after parking behind the speed and won running away in fast time, the speed is drawn out here, he can land on-speed and take beating following TOWER BRIDGE across from his draw, the well-bred 3YO colt takes on the older horses after a high-rating maiden win at start two, he was flattered by the bias so need to see again. His main BOLD STRIKE resumes, he stepped out over middle distance last prep, 1200 on the shorts side but drawn for a similar run to what he received breaking his maiden first-up for the new stable. SAVVIE BLANC improved with racing last prep, resumes off solid work at the jumpouts, not the worst. Selections: 6,9,7,4 Suggested Bet: ALIANO win RACE 7 WACO KID is airborne and on the rise for trainer Julien Welsh, he’s been well-placed to keep the winning momentum going up in grade against modest opposition in this grade, the sticky draw is the concern. ITSUKUSHIMA is racing to his best, again maps positive racing on-speed from the ace gate. MISLIGHT will push on and join him in the lead pairing, she enjoyed all favours to sprint best and break her maiden at Geelong, at the weights she gets a significant swing on her better-performed opposition. BLUSHING TYCOON will be sweating on the speed horses from his draw and always improves with a run. Selections: 6,3,10,1 Suggested Bet: None RACE 8 Tough finish, many winning chances. ATTACHMENTS is a mare in form and six weeks between runs, she has jumped out super since her last start win when finding the money spot in running at Kilmore and can win again. ICHIBERU is always at the behest of the track pattern because of her negative racing style but she too is racing too well and getting away from the short straight at Mornington can only be positive. FLUENT is building to a win, no luck last start trapped wide from a wide draw, she may have to do it the hard way once again. BRILLIANT HORIZON is sure to have admirers with Craig Williams from the inside. Selections: 1,7,5,9 Suggested Bets: ATTACHMENTS & ICHIBERU win Market Market
