Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on December 2, 2025December 2, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 VIRESHA made her debut at Belmont behind Pony Up, Rising Fame and subsequent maiden winner Itzabeast off the back of a quiet trial. Second-up she ran a fast finishing fourth to Itzabeast, Rising Fame and Final Call before turning the tables on Rising Fame and beating home Rock The Market in a maiden at her third career outing. She rises a whopping 5kg to 59 but she’s afforded every chance in a very thin race. REFEMME NO ANGEL trialled well on multiple occasions leading into his return but hasn’t had the right run on either occasion at the races. This might be their chance to lead? PEMBETON and CAWARRA have both probably shown more as 2 year olds than 3 year olds this prep. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – VIRESHA WIN RACE 2 BELAURA STAR and MALOLO trialled together at Lark Hill over 950m and it’s worth remembering that there would be a massive (sorry) weight difference between a Monday morning non-race riding Jarrad Noske and Tash Faithfull. Thought BELAURA STAR was travelling well enough to go past MALOLO if Jarrad wanted too and happy to trust the eye and follow him into his debut with some confidence. HOLD MY WINE ran second to Strideaway on debut as a 2 year old and then has been beaten out of sight ever since. Clearly has issues but you’d think the Pearces book Pike on their best chance? MALOLO beat home Belaura Star in the trial and kicks through into a prominent spot in running. GODLESS STORM is back to 1000m and being drawn off the track might be a good thing for him? Numbers: 10 – 7 – 13 – 2 Suggested Bet – BELAURA STAR WIN RACE 3 SOUND OF SPEED looked the winner at his return until the very last stride when Anaballistic grabbed him on the post. He was only returning off a 400m jump out so he should have plenty of improvement first-up to second-up and if that is the case then he’ll be hard to beat. CANNYKEV is still a maiden but given the way he has trialled over many a prep it does look like he’s a 1000m horse at this stage of his life. Don’t mind the placement into a C1 to keep him at the short course and use the 3kg claim of Natika Riordan. GANGGAJANG put on a galloping exhibition at Narrogin. Won by nearly 6L after being the biggest drifter in betting. The market doesn’t always know! SESH is there abouts but seems to lack a killer blow. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – SOUND OF SPEED WIN RACE 4 KAZANA and PONY UP are both coming out of the Group Three Champion Fillies and that has to be the best form in the race. KAZANA won on debut beating Admire Astra (won at her next outing) and then went to the Burgess Queen when beaten 5.4L behind Playin’ It Sweet, Talkanco and Pure Excess and then finished 4.8L behind Pure Excess, Talkanco and Fine Star. Massive drop in grade and only rises half a kilo. PONY UP finished fourth behind Esta Mirando and subsequent winner Artistry In Motion before going to the Champion Fillies and finished just in front of Kazana. Holds a spot close handy and gets the right run. FLINDERS LANE ran into a handy 3 year old in Saam Time Lucky last start. SHAMILIAN MISS is racing like she wants ground. Numbers: 11 – 12 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – KAZANA EACHWAY RACE 5 HEY PINO resumed in a C3 1200 last preparation and ran a fast finishing second to Repeater (who went C1 to C3 to Westspeed in back to back to back wins), second-up finished third behind King Adviso (who went to 60+ Graduation, 66+ and 72+ races) and then third-up finished off strongly behind Lombadina in a 60+ Graduation. Trialled like he is in for a good prep and just needs conditions to allow him to make some ground to run a race at an eachway price. MT SHIRATAKU is through the same trial and was finishing off strongly late. He’s got versatility and he’s got a future. Few gear changes made but looks the clear cut danger and probably the one the market will want? PRINCESS IN RED is an honest type of mare. SUNBRONZED is well placed and has a winnable weight after the claim. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – HEY PINO EACHWAY RACE 6 SUPIDO EXPRESS and SALTY MISS are both back into a C1 coming out of a 60+ Graduation behind Nicciana. Happy to put the eggs in that form reference basket and looking at this race it would appear that one will go forward (Supido Express) and one will end up midfield or worse (Salty Miss). Will go with the on-speeder and hope that he can finally break through for a deserved win. SALTY MISS is more than capable of gunning him down if he can find the right back to follow into the race. Going super (like all of Tiarnna Noske’s). TERRITORY MAN may have been beaten 7L in his most recent trial but he was the only horse in that heat to make any ground late and he was given a relatively quiet time by Pike as well. FLASH DANCER may need to burn across to park in the breeze? Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – SUPIDO EXPRESS WIN RACE 7 Stablemates TRUE BLUE BONDI and NINE BALL clash here in a C3 1400 and like in the previous with Supido Express – Salty Miss happy to go with the on-speeder v the off-speeder in the H2H battle. TRUE BLUE BONDI can march across from his wide draw and park right up over the speed. NINE BALL was a great return and is clearly better suited at 1400m. They’ve figured her out, leave her alone early and she’ll show a big turn of foot late. SANDFIRE ROSE came of age at the end of last preparation and has trialled well for her return. Barrier is massive unknown but even when horses are caught three and four deep the trip they seem to keep coming under Holly Nottle (i.e. Deamber Sunday). IMPRESSIVE JEWEL was put into the race first-up and just held on late. Solid return. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 12 – 8 Suggested Bet – TRUE BLUE BONDI WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) Race 4 – 3,9,11,12 Race 5 – 2,4,9 Race 6 – 1,2,3 Race 7 – 3,5 Market Market
