Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on October 21, 2025October 21, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TENNESSEE SPIRIT is heading straight to the races off only a single 400m jump out, however, it was very impressive and very sharp when leading Castle Road and Baby Pearl and breaking the 24 second barrier in the process. After 15 initial nominations for the race it’s fallen away to a field of only 5 and provided she isn’t crossed in the first 200m then she should lead and give a big kick on straightening. NINETYMILESTRAIGHT was a soft trial and a great run fresh behind Moonwalk (luckless Saturday) and looks in for a good prep. LADIES PRO heads to the races, a $45,000 Adelaide Yearling Sale purchase and has shown ability in both trials. CALL ME INVINCIBLE may just want further. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – TENNESSEE SPIRIT WIN RACE 2 OURGIRLCANRUN was given a big push by trainer Mitch Pateman in a pre-race interview leading into her return to the races in a 3 year old Saturday when third behind Playin’ It Sweet (since won a 66+ 1200) and Snitzalatte (stiff in a Max Simmonds Classic). Drops back into an all age maiden and from what we’ve seen she’s got versatility. Can charge forward and look for a spot but also capable of sitting back and making a run at them late. Nice filly. PEMBETON had four starts as a 2 year old spread over two preparations and showed ability in all of them. Did go around $3.50 on a Saturday first-up last prep. THE CRIMSON PIRATE trialled in the compression hood with ear muffs and wasn’t asked for anything by Pike. BONDI LIFESAVER comes through the Moonwalk/Ninetymilestraight formline that is on show in the opener. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – OURGIRLCANRUN WIN RACE 3 PONY UP has never seen a maiden in her life and has finished within 2.5L of King Of Light, 1L of Zourun Run and 2.5L of My Authoritah/Country God. She was run off her legs in a 400m jump out but that did contain Tennessee Spirit, Castle Road and Baby Pearl and from her inside barrier she looks like enjoying a great run close handy to the speed. Could be the forgotten horse. BOUTIQUE BELLE is thrown a tough barrier on debut but she’s regally bred and she’s shown a turn of foot in her trials. The most recent was really (really) slow but she still put them away under very little riding. Big respect. CAPRICIOUS RULER makes his debut as 4 year old and looks like he’ll also go back and wind up in the three deep line like Boutique Belle. VIRESHA is another out there is the moving line doing her best late. Numbers: 11 – 13 – 7 – 15 Suggested Bet – PONY UP EACHWAY RACE 4 STREAMLINED could well find himself lining up in a Fairetha Stakes in a 17 days time if he was to make an impression on debut. He has been given plenty of experience across multiple preparations at the races and now makes his debut at 1400m which looks a perfect kick off point for him. Trialled in blinkers and was only just starting to hit top gear in the concluding stages. Needs every inch of this and looks hard to beat on debut. Just like Buthelezi last week, the 3 year olds just have so much more upside than their older rivals this time of year. GRAVITY DEFYING looked good in his trial and Ryan Hill can produce a debut winner (Ruben’s Ceiling). SPELLBORN was desperately unlucky on debut when hitting heavy traffic at a crucial stage. MASMELO is going super but again riddled by a bad barrier. Numbers: 13 – 12 – 11 – 16 Suggested Bet – STREAMLINED WIN RACE 5 OVERDRIVE was a costly conveyance last preparation. She finished second to Prized Recruit ($2.20), second to Hobelar ($2.10), second to Rise To Glory ($2.70) and then finished seventh after she bled from one nostril ($3.80). Her only win came first-up over 1000m at Belmont Park and this looks a great set up for her to track the speedy filly Spicy Thang and holds a tactical advantage over main danger Savage Dancer. SAVAGE DANCER really impressed on debut and was immediately tipped out. The Elite Beau / Just Saint James trial has been a money printing exercise and she actually settled forward. SPICY THANG ran into Elite Beau last week and has a senior on back in grade. GALWAY SHAWL let rip with a big L600 on debut. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – OVERDRIVE WIN RACE 6 PURE OBSESSION resumed in a C3 1300 at Northam and ran into highly progressive type Fast Harry. He was only 1.8L off the winner and by that stage of the day it was also very apparent that you didn’t want to be anywhere near the inside fence throughout running so as a horse drawn barrier 1 he was already at a significant disadvantage before the gates even opened. This looks very winnable for him. GRANDAD’S ADICTION comes through the Wembanyama/Linchpin race run 8L faster than 0MWLY average. Means he’ll be popular with punters back in a C1. SHAZAIR was thrown in the deep end after winning a mile maiden at Bunbury at her third career outing. RIVERCREST MAGIC next best. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet – PURE OBSESSION WIN RACE 7 DELTASON resumed over an unsuitable 1000m in the Max Simmonds Classic and only finished 2.2L off Talkanco after parking wide throughout. Instead of heading to the Belgravia Stakes on the traditional pathway towards the Fairetha (1400) and WA Guineas (1600) Meryl Hayley has elected to dodge the good ones and drop back into a C3 midweeker. Looks a great decision on paper. BEAU TALK will go around a huge price but trialled well enough to play a part first-up at odds and last campaign went in fresh to a 60+ Grad and was only 2L off the winner (without much flow). FLAGSHIP is adored by the market, big firmer nearly every time he races, however, the jury is still out on how well he’s going? CRYPTIC JOY should have finished closer first-up in a Westspeed with some depth. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – DELTASON WIN RACE 8 RIVA AQUARAMA, ESTA MIRANDO and SILENT DIVA are a trio of nice progressive 3 year old fillies who will all likely head towards races like the Burgess Queen in the coming weeks. They’re all likely to settle in the second half of the field and make their runs together and it will likely come down to who gets the right run in transit. ESTA MIRANDO showed a great turn of foot to win on debut at Northam over 1000m after trialling like a filly who may need 1200+. Grant & Alana have been producing these types off a 5 – 7 week freshen for years with great success and she’s a half-sister to some quality animals. RIVA AQUARAMA has to concede 3.5kg and possibly a head start to ESTA MIRANDO and that makes her job that much more difficult. SILENT DIVA is through the Elite Beau / Just Saint James / Savage Dancer trial. DEFINE BEAUTIFUL is back to her best. Numbers: 13 – 3 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – ESTA MIRANDO WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,8,10 1,2 4,7,8,9 3,5,9,13 Market Market
