Glenn Ingram’s Wednesday Geelong Preview Posted on October 21, 2025October 21, 2025 | Posted by Glenn Ingram RACE 1 Typical benchmark staying race with a modest tempo expected. HIGHLAND BLING can hold a handy position from the inside and is well-placed to win again on the back of consistent form, provided the track is not too rain-affected. HAALAND was gritty winning at Sandown after showing initiative to settle front pair, a class rise here but may get a soft time with similar tactics. KABURAN is the likely leader, dropping back in distance is no negative as he may have a fitness advantage. CAPTAIN ELECTRIC has patchy recent form, he finds this easier coming out of a deep Hamilton Cup race where he was ok, any track downgrade would increase his chances significantly. Selections: 4,8,6,7 Suggested Bet: HAALAND 1 x 3 RACE 2 Tricky race. A number of different angles. MRS ARCHIBALD is suited rising to 1100m and back in grade and could cause an upset if the projected rain forecast arrives prior to race-day. She’s drawn to stalk the speed and appeals at a price. NORMANDY LASS is fit and in-form, led throughout to score in a similar race last start, a soft track only improves her chances. STREET CONQUEROR resumes off a failed HK campaign. His jumpout’s have been ok, fresh record suggests he can win, late betting will be key. ATHERATUM made a solid return chasing from the back at Sandown, poor winning strike rate the concern. Selections: 2,7,4,8 Suggested Bet: MRS ARCHIBALD 1 x 4 RACE 3 OTAGO is a good fresh horse and in the right stable to have one ready to go. His recent Cranbourne jumpout win was to his usual high standard, the map is sticky, apprentice Luke Cartwright will need luck getting off the inside to produce him. DEEP PLEASURE is well-placed in this easier assignment, last start effort was plain, she’s been reliable to this point and worth an exception. RIPROAR is an enigma, gap between his best and worst is seismic. He’s a proven fresh performer and 1300m is an ideal starting point with a draw to get every opportunity, money stable, betting? ASTRAL FLAME was heavily-backed fresh after impressive jumpouts, off the bit a long way out, uncomfortable in the ground. Stable has been quiet, best is good enough. Selections: 2,5,4,9 Suggested Bet: None RACE 4 This is an excellent race for FIRST CHORUS. He put together back-to-back wins before a freshen and had no luck returning at Sandown trapped wide throughout on a genuine tempo, his effort in defeat was very good. BRUNG KING will be rain-dancing in his box and hoping it arrives and arrives hard, his fresh effort was a game defeat after going forward at Bendigo, always improves with a run and is right in this with his preferred conditions. SOME PEOPLE CALLME goes ok fresh and ran on strongly behind two sub winners in a recent Flemington jumpout. A repeat of his first-up run when last in work would have him figure in the finish. BLUEPINOT found an ideal race last start and could not capitalise, this stronger again. Selections: 8,1,6,12 Suggested Bet: FIRST CHORUS to win RACE 5 Wide open race. MATSUDA produced a high-rating maiden win when camped leaders back at Sale and raced away at the top of the straight. Still green, he has an enormous stride and can improve further with experience. Breed generally enjoy softer conditions. HIGHVOL has been spruiked and placed at the top end all campaign, this is much more realistic for where he’s at currently. ARCORA had no luck when rising in distance last start, Blake Shinn takes over and drawn to be prominent. AZAZEL gives himself every chance with a positive racing style. Selections: 3,1,2,4 Suggested Bet: MATSUDA each-way RACE 6 SAXON SPOT is very progressive and looking to picket fence wins since joining Team Hayes. He returned to the jumpouts at Seymour between runs and was the standout performer of the meeting. A wet track is a major concern given his previous efforts in Sydney. SHINY NEW DEEL comes in to the race fit and firing and expertly-placed by an astute stable, he’s a key speed influence and a key winning chance. EMPHASIZE has fallen off a cliff since his early 3YO season, the recent effort was more encouraging and is capable at this level. THE MUFFIN MAN has promised more than he’s delivered, blinkers on and worth keeping safe for a good trainer. Selections: 2,1,4,5 Suggested Bet: SAXON SPOT each way RACE 7 TORRANZINO is ready to peak, he impressed at the jumpout stage and has been building steadily, chased strongly at Flemington and we saw that form measure up in the Caulfield Cup. If the track is rated in the soft range, he’ll get his winning chance. GILDED WATER was off the map in betting at Flemington and received a potential ‘prep-destroyer’ setting a fierce tempo and fading in the straight. Norton bit added to correct his steering issues. WHISKY ON THE HILL backers at Caulfield are still nauseous, he was luckless in the Herbert Power, not sure its the ideal preparation coming into this off a slowly run race. BERKELEY SQUARE is due for a change of luck also, better draw this time. Selections: 4,7,5,2 Suggested Bet: TORRANZINO 1 x 3 RACE 8 Banking on horses getting off the fence late in the day which should aide the chances PERSIAN SPIRIT coming through a key form reference at Flemington. An impressive first-up winner then disadvantaged by the tempo last start. A genuine horse with a big finish and will be charging down the middle of the track. STOLLI BOLLI is bursting to win, with even luck he’s in the finish, the inside draw is a huge query come this time of the day. PROVED is an unbeaten mare resuming, her latest jumpout win at Cranbourne was typically quick, expect her sent from the wide draw. SPIONE is still relatively unexposed with potential for upside, recent jumpout suggests he can run a race first-up. Selections: 6,12,7,13 Suggested Bet: None RACE 9 FLYING VALLEY is well-placed down in grade and should get wet track conditions to suit. A promising horse early in his career, he’s now starting to reach his level, settling midfield from the wide draw he can find best part of the track. JENNI THE FOX will also appreciate this easier assignment having contested stakes company her past couple. GUERITE was heavily-backed and went straight to the front winning here fresh, five week gap between runs last start and still ran well, big chance to improve further on the home track. SCINTILLANTE held his ground first-up when specked in the market, with natural improvement a winning hope. Selections: 5,11,17,16 Suggested Bet: FLYING VALLEY to win ROUGHIE R2 #2 MRS ARCHIBALD Market Market
