Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on August 7, 2025August 7, 2025 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 GULLY GUM (4) led from this barrier at his last start when 2nd to Golden Lode in 1.54.9. He will appreciate the shorter trip tonight and will be hard to beat if he finds the front. CHIVALRY (5) has a great record at the sprint distance and his first up run indicated that he is in for a good campaign. PETES HONOUR (10) is likely to settle three back on the pegs and will be charging home if he sees daylight at the right time. DAWSON (6) has an awkward draw to overcome but he has won four of his last five starts and must be respected. ROCKANROLLARTIST (7), SOHO MOONRAKER (8), ONESMARTFELLA (11) and THENUCAMELONG (12) could all win without surprising. Tips: 4 5 10 6 Suggested Bet: GULLY GUM (4) to win. Race 2 DARK EYES (1) never saw daylight last week but he had been placed in four of his five previous starts in stronger company. He looks the likely leader tonight and is clearly the one to beat. CAMS BOULDER (3) ran a solid 3rd in good time here last week and should be prominent throughout. SWEET VIVIENNE (10) is better suited to a draw when she can roll along but should be in the finish if she settles from her trailing draw. VEGAS STRIP (8) crossed and then sat when 3rd in the Free For All event last week and must be considered in this company despite the wide barrier. Tips: 1 3 10 8 Suggested Bet: DARK EYES (1) to win. Race 3 CANDY APPLE (3) has worked her way to the front at her last three starts for two wins and a 2nd. She may have to breeze here but should still fight out the finish. PRINCESS KATIE (2) resumes without a trial but raced in stronger company last time in and must be respected if there is any market support. GET THE BOOTH (1) recorded back-to-back victories before disappointing at her last start and will be prominent throughout tonight. SHEZA SASSY LADY (10) will enjoy a soft run on the pegs and can be dangerous late. Tips: 3 2 1 10 Suggested Bet: CANDY APPLE (3) to win. Race 4 MAGNIFICENT STORM (9) has been placed after working hard in his two runs back from a break. His last effort when 2nd in 1.52.6 indicated that he is getting back to his best and he should break back into the winners’ circle soon. LUSAKA (1) put his bad luck behind him when a dominant all-the-way winner over this distance at his last start and is the obvious danger. OTIS (2) ran a nice 6th first-up and is likely to enjoy the perfect trip behind the two favourites. HOTLY PURSUED (7) impressed at his first run back from a spell and will be running on if there is a solid early tempo. Tips: 3 1 2 7 Suggested Bet: MAGNIFICENT STORM (3) to win. Race 5 WISHING BELLE (6) has been dominant in both starts against similar line-ups this time in and looks to have the measure of her rivals at this stage of her career. MA PETITE DAME (10) will enjoy a soft run on the pegs and could be the main danger if the favourite is forced to work hard in the run. CRUNCHNSIP (1) has options from the pole and looks a great place chance. IM CATEGORY FIVE (7) has the second best form in the event but has drawn outside of WISHING BELLE (6) and will find it hard to get into the race. Tips: 6 10 1 7 Suggested Bet: WISHING BELLE (6) to win. Race 6 BLAZE AWAY (9) is working up to a win and his last start 2nd to Candy Apple was full of merit. He is suited by the staying trip and he can be put into the race when the tempo suits and should prove hard to beat. SOHO GIGOLO (3) doesn’t have the class of his main rivals but he should be able to bully his way to the front and will give a sight. CEE DEE THREE (6) was slightly disappointing when 4th in the Higgins Final but he should be getting close to peak fitness and will make his presence felt. IM LORD LOGAN (8) won’t be able to lead throughout like he did at his last start but can still play a part. SOUND WAVE (12) is consistent and shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 9 3 6 8 Suggested Bet: BLAZE AWAY (9) to win. Race 7 CAPTAINSHAVTIME (12) was first-up and never in contention but ran on well when 4th to RUBY LOU (9). This race looks to have more tempo and she can overcome her backline draw. ARETHA (8) was in the same boat as CAPTAINSHAVTIME (12) last start and she looks better suited tonight. ITS MAA TIME (7) has plenty of ability and should be at good each way odds. COPPER HEAD LADY (6) has come up short in early markets but is first-up for 12 months and her trial indicated that she might take a run or two to get back to her good 2YO form. RUBY LOU (9) defeated a similar field last start but the draw makes it tough. Tips: 12 8 7 6 Suggested Bet: CAPTAINSHAVTIME (12) to win. Race 8 TANTABIDDI (5) led throughout two starts back before finishing a close-up 8th in the Higgins Final last week and he will be hard to catch if he can find the front without spending too many pennies. HALE SAINT LOUIE (8) is the class runner of the field but he is first-up without a trial and has a wide draw to overcome. POCKET THE CHANGE (1) was only 4.6 metres behind the winner, Insta Gator, here last week and can play a part from the pole. CALLMEWHATUWANT (9) was an eye-catching 4th in that event and looks set for a good campaign but the draw makes it tough. Tips: 5 8 1 9 Suggested Bet: TANTABIDDI (5) to win. Race 9 CORDERO (6) has a losing sequence of 21`but his recent form has been solid and he strikes the right field and distance to give him the chance of getting back in the winners’ circle. STRAUNY (12) is another suited by the staying trip and he has plenty of time to overcome the backline draw. TUBBS FARQUAR (5) looked the winner before being run down by Dame Valour here last week and can give cheek. MIDDLEPAGE (7) may not be back to his best but should strip fitter for his first-up run and can figure. Tips: 6 12 5 7 Suggested Bet: CORDERO (6) to win. Race 10 LUVAFLAIR (6) isn’t a mare that can make her own luck but she has a sharp turn of foot and will be hard to hold out if the race is run to suit. CASHOUT (5) is only a 3YO taking on the seasoned trotters but he showed plenty of ability in Victoria and he will win plenty of races in WA. ALDEBARAN SUNDOWN (1) has only been placed in one of his last nine starts but should be a big improver from the pole. DREAMBIGAIMHIGH (7) is in the zone but will need some luck from out here. NICKYS SON (9) has finished at the rear at his two starts this time in but can improve sharply. Tips: 6 5 1 7 Suggested Bet: LUVAFLAIR (6) to win. Market Market
