Scott Embry’s Saturday Bunbury Preview Posted on March 6, 2025March 6, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TERRATIF was $1.80 into $1.32 last Saturday and won soft. She’s a highly progressive mare, she’s on the 7 day back-up staying in Westspeed Platinum Grade and provided she can carry 59kg over 1690m then she should continue to build a picket fence. She’s pretty good, and better than these. SUCCESS PLAY hasn’t had much go right at his last two outings. He’ll settle on speed and is always there abouts. ROUNDABOUT GLORY had an excuse last start and should have finished closer. BEST OF THE GODS is trying hard. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – TERRATIF WIN RACE 2 FILTHY HABITS is one tough animal. He’s won both of his 900m Bunbury Sand Fibre trial and he resumes over 1690m as the 60kg top weight, but he’s always around the mark and trusting in Brandon & Lucy Fiore to have him fit enough to tackle this winnable first-up assignment. He’s a ripper. ABOVE THE PEG is a 7 day horse. Backed up 5 times for 1 win and 3 minors and drops in grade. Big watch. HERE FOR CHEQUES got the job done last week. Third run in a fortnight and hopefully gains a bit of confidence from that win. MANAVENDRA is going well. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – FILTHY HABITS WIN RACE 3 FLURO NEURO showed a bit of versatility last week by parking in the breeze and coming away for a solid victory. He’s off the 7 day back-up, he’s dropping back to 1400m and he could easily slide forward to sit off likely pacemaker Material Witness and enjoy a similar run in transit. Hard to go past him the way he’s going. YARRALEA is at the back end of a testing campaign but she rates up really well for this. BRIMSTONE put in his best effort yet in WA last start and drops to 52.5kg. INFLUENCING with Pike is an obvious improver. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – FLURO NEURO WIN RACE 4 JUST SAINT JAMES is having a break out preparation. He won a C3 down the straight before bursting through to win a Westspeed Platinum over subsequent winner Cessation and then last time out split subsequent winners Rocking Gem and Shooting Spirit. Back out to 1200m, down 2.5kg and in a small field to suit. Hard to hold out. MISS FLIRACIOUS can lead or box seat from barrier 1 and is rarely far from the winner. CESSATION is stretched at the end of 1200m but racing really well. LONSDALEITE will need conditions to suit. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – JUST SAINT JAMES WIN RACE 5 LOVES TALKING is quick. She bounced straight on the top and led them a merry dance over 1100m at Ascot, stopping the clock nearly 4L faster than average. Expecting she’ll be ridden for pure speed again and be looking to cross them from barrier 11 of 11 and stretch their necks from the 600. MY AUTHORITAH hasn’t been tested at all in either barrier trial and has been very impressive on both occasions. Looks above average. SEARCHIN’ TIMES has shown more than enough at trials over two preps to suggest she’s a winning chance at 20-1. SOLAR CREST worked home well behind Loves Talking. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 11 – 8 Suggested Bet – LOVES TALKING WIN RACE 6 SCORPION RULER was narrowly defeated at the hands of Cessation (races in Race 4) and Jaz Session (won at $1.60 on Wednesday at Belmont Park) last start. Think that’s the best form reference in the race and from the draw Holly Watson again has the option to lead or take a sit. Either way she’s the one to beat. PRIZED RECRUIT is looking to make it three from three to start his preparation and looks to have found a suitable race against the older horses. Going really well. SKY DUKE showed plenty of dash fresh and held off a nice mare. BARNEY’S WORLD goes best first-up. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – SCORPION RULER WIN RACE 7 WATCH ME ROCK steps into Listed Company for the first time in his life but since the blinkers went on he’s gone to a whole new level. He ambled up to them first-up at 1200m and held off Angel Undercover who has since pushed Twain’s Angel and Generosity at mares level. Steps to 1400m, gets in with 54kg, maps a treat and looks like he’ll more than measure up. MAN CRUSH will appreciate there being no Snowdome. ICE PICK NICK was a great run against the pattern in the Pinjarra Classic. TRIPLE MISSILE improves again. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – WATCH ME ROCK WIN Same Race Multi – Watch Me Rock (Win) + Man Crush (Top 4) Watch Me Rock is first time into Listed Company but since master trainers Grant & Alana Williams put blinkers on him he’s undefeated and seemingly only getting better with racing. He drops down to 54kg, he maps to get the right run and pretty confident he’ll measure up at this level. Man Crush is stretched at 1400m but hoping he can hold on late to finish Top 4. RACE 8 DEMOLISH became the on top selection in the Detonator Stakes after the withdrawal of Bonjoy and things simply didn’t work out for him at any stage in running. He was cluttered away midfield towards the fence in a ridiculously run race which was no more than a sprint home from the 600 (first 1200m run 21.5L slower than average). Think he’s going well and will follow up at juicy double figures as a point of difference. CAPTAIN PLUTO did a great job to get home as well as he did last week. Dangerous off the back-up. OWN THE QUEEN has had nothing go right this campaign but continues to turn up. ANTIQUE MISS is versatile, consistent and knows how to win. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 13 – 3 Suggested Bet – DEMOLISH EACHWAY RACE 9 PREMIUM GIRL returned in a C3, first-up no trial, with 59kg and beat Gi Gi Pops. With that filly coming out and running a narrow minor placing to Shmoov Moova and Secret Attraction the form looks great and worth remembering that before DQ’d she was a 60+ Graduation winner. Provided she gets across she’s hard to beat. ESSENTRIC NATURE will be all the rage and could well be the target of big backing (again). Got the job done last start but was hardly convincing at the shorts. MEAN MACHINE is looming but not finishing off. FLYING SOUTH deserves another crack at this level. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – PREMIUM GIRL WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,5,6,8,9 8 2,3,5,6,7,13,14 2,5 Market Market
