Scott Embry’s Thursday Bunbury Preview Posted on February 26, 2025February 26, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PEANUT BUTTER makes his debut from the yard of Brandon & Lucy Fiore and his recent all the way trial win on the synthetic at Bunbury was strong. Still far from sold on the sand fibre trials and the form out of them but we’ll trust the eye and suggest he can lead and win on debut. CROWS looked to be travelling well but had nowhere to move in the home straight and ended up running a luckless sixth on debut. Have time for Bosisto (the winner) and if he measures up in a C3 1000 at Ascot on Wednesday it will make the form look alright. SOMETHING ROYAL was beaten fair and square in a Barker maiden last start. BRED NOT BROUGHT next best. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – PEANUT BUTTER WIN RACE 2 HIGHLAND FLAIR ran second in a 60+ Graduation at Ascot in April 2024. His first-up run was also in a 60+ Grad and he finished within 1L of Sonoftheboss, Becalotti and Triple Jay. Repeats that performance in a maiden and he’s the winner. But you’re taking him on trust without a trial and from the outside gate. SUN KOSI finished 1L off Fantaxtic in a 3 year old 1100 first-up and now takes on the older horses in a race that looks to have less depth. NOW SHOWING was good fresh in the same race and draws much better. SESH trialled well leading into his return. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – HIGHLAND FLAIR WIN RACE 3 MODELISTIC looks ready to win. She resumed at 1600m when third behind now Saturday winner Barra Mundy and then was eye catching second-up behind Shazair when settling a mile off them, sustaining a big run from the back of the field and savaging the line. These 2000m maidens are weak and she gets her chance. PASS THE BUBBLES is better served for having run over the trip and could even roll towards the top. CENTRALLA will be on speed as well and whacks away. ALNAUD is a real grinding type. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – MODELISTIC WIN RACE 4 RETURN OF THE MACH should be going close to breaking through here. Finished 3L behind Come On Emma on debut and had excuses when held up on straightening and then went to 1400m second-up and was only run down late by Mississippi Dawn who heads to a C3 1600 on Wednesday at Ascot. Like the barrier, like the map and think she’s hard to beat. HEY PINO trialled well leading into his debut and started to figure it out last start. SWINDLE THE DOUGH has been battling away all campaign and isn’t far off a win. BRIGHT DELIGHT is looking for 1400. Numbers: 11 – 1 – 4 – 12 Suggested Bet – RETURN OF THE MACH WIN RACE 5 ADDICTIVE DREAM was a complete forgive last start. She settled near last in a ridiculously slowly run race (first 600m run 12L slower than average) and from where she settled she was sectionally impossible. Happy to follow up. PHAROAH SHOW had to jump out of the ground in the last 100m to get the job done first-up at 1200m and now here second-up at 1400m he looks to get an identical run into the race and if he can show the same turn of foot once balanced, he’ll take holding out. DUG ANOTHER HOLE took a long while to break through but did so in style. KAMAKAZI SHOOTER comes out running to find a spot. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – ADDICTIVE DREAM WIN RACE 6 GOLDEN DORE is going so much better than numerical form suggests. Looked ready to burst through two back before KO’d, looked ready to chime in last start but the gaps closed on him. Will need to be able to make ground to make him a betting proposition. CLOSE AT HAND was desperately unlucky last start when held up for the majority of the home straight. Don’t think there’s much between him and Touretto apart from Pike. TOURETTO finally showed what he’s capable of last start when pulling out wide and winding up through his gears powerfully. ELBOW LOUNGE isn’t easy to catch but won well last start. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – GOLDEN DORE WIN RACE 7 PLAY DICE was first-up into the 66+ mares race and only finished 4L off Rissoles, Cherry Can Run and Valsassina when settling on top of a genuine tempo. William Pike takes over second-up, she drops back into a C3 and she’s shown above average ability throughout her career. LOMBADINA was backed like there was no settling first-up and the punters nailed it. She walked in. HEEZA BEAU a watch at his first outing for Michael Lane. STAR POWER finds a suitable assignment. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – PLAY DICE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 11 1,4,8 2,4,5,6 1,2,3,7,9 Market Market
