Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on February 18, 2025February 18, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 NICELY PLAYED toyed with rivals in a maiden at Bunbury when backed into $1.16 fixed odds (from $1.75). She was simply too quick for them that day and expecting her to bounce on the lead and provided there is no issue with the inside running rail she should prove very hard to run down. HEZ GOT THE SAFE is a sharp 3 year old. He’ll be winning plenty of races and is the logical danger. Ripper return to racing. AMAROO STAR was left a sitting duck after being exposed on straightening fresh. MISTER RAFFLES will make the grade. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – NICELY PLAYED WIN RACE 2 SUPERFLUOUS was finding the line powerfully on debut from a long way back at Northam and then was immediately tipped out for a spell. Resumes here off the back of a trial win (have a look at Simon Miller’s last 20 trials – they’re all absolutely flying) and first-up 1400m is a nice starting point for him. SPANK APPEAL did things right at trials and looks a horse who will be winning races early. MASTERLY was solid at his return to racing. ALL FIRED UP tried hard on debut but was 20-1 that day. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – SUPERFLUOUS WIN RACE 3 GI GI POPS could well be making her way from this outing to an Ascot 1000 Guineas in the coming weeks and to justify (see what I did there) that decision she needs to go close in this. This has more depth than your average C3 1300 but thinking that Shaun McGruddy will cross to the top, control and kick hard into the corner. It’s her cruising speed that wins races. PREMIUM GIRL went into her last run as a m67 and having been DQ’s from her last four starts she is now back down to a m62 rater. Money horse surely? SO NATAYA won well fresh. HOBA METEOR caught the eye at her return. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – GI GI POPS WIN RACE 4 SUMMER’S LEGACY looks the winner? She marks the WA return of star hoop William Pike and she’s extremely well placed by Grant & Alana Williams back into a C1 after holding her own first-up in a 3 year old 1400m. Those in front of her (All Grunt, Deel Her In, Precious God) all likely progress to the Challenge Stakes and she’s back to a mid-weeker. Very hard to hold out. NET ZERO won well last start but may want further than this. COHEN’S SONG has issues but did rattle home last start. BUCKLAND can lead and control. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – SUMMER’S LEGACY WIN RACE 5 ROCKET JUICE is no world beater but he’s racing well this campaign and with Just Saint James going close on the weekend and Tawkin’ Jibberish winning last Wednesday it does look the right form dropping back into a C3. Even race and looks one of the main players. THERMOSPHERE LAD is flying but he can be scratchy out of the machine, so barrier 1 is always a cause for concern. ZOUBOLTZ has returned in excellent order and provided he can find a back to follow from a tricky draw he’ll be there abouts. PLEASE MIZTER got better and better with racing at the end of his Goldfields preparation. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – ROCKET JUICE EACHWAY RACE 6 CREZEE broke a long run of outs last start and scored his first victory in a long, long while (over 800 days). Holly Watson elects to ride Royal Splendour so ‘Management Stablemate’ Lucy Fiore takes over riding duties and think that the old boy is a big chance of going back to back. Amazing what one win and a bit of confidence can do to these types of animal. ROYAL SLENDOUR is a last start winner and had been building nicely into her preparation. She can win again no doubt. MYSTICAL MAN is bursting to win a race but still has a big weight, even after the ZJP claim. HIS EMINENCE is ready. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – CREZEE EACHWAY RACE 7 PLAYING GAMES looks to have found an ideal race to break through for a deserved win. She’s been racing well recently at 1200m but just feel like a less frenetic tempo over 1400m will suit her better and she’s got the firepower to sprint with (and better than) most of these. MOCHA DREAM is Willie Pike’s only other ride and looks a distinct winning chance. STARRING KNIGHT was no match for Defending at Gero last start but does run for Chris Parnham (5 wins). SPECIAL VIEW hasn’t won for a while but off his last run he’s not far off. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – PLAYING GAMES WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 7 4,5,6,8 1,2,3,4,6,8 2,5,6 Market Market
